Advice

I recently had an appointment with my DSB team I was under the impression this would be the last appointment prior to my surgery. However during the appointment both the consultant and a surgeon told me they have some concerns and I need to have further test prior to the surgery.. they are requesting an another MRI scan. My last one was in August and also an additional EMG test. I’ve been on a waiting list for a few years & have always been told the DSB will help. The consultant is concerned about my memory test and bank test. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Hi @Dreams1, we can see why that may feel unsettling, especially after a long wait.

You might find it helpful to ask your medical team what they’re looking for with the extra MRI and EMG, and how the memory and bank tests fit into the plan.

Perhaps other members of our forum may have had similar pauses before DBS and can share how it worked out for them.

You’re not alone in this, and we’re grateful that you shared this here.

if I had a surgeon who was being a bit reluctant to rush into Surgery with me, I would absolutely listen to their advice. I’m sure they have good reasons, you should definitely be asking what they are.
