For man to prove his purpose and his worth,
Read chapters of his life which are complete.
The verses, which began before his birth,
Chart troubles that, with fortitude, he’ll meet.
To stand tall in a crazy world like this,
Takes strength to fight, and stamina to win.
Can he expect a life of constant bliss?
Without resort to bitterness and sin?
Prized time, like longed-for rain on barren ground,
Each moment finely balanced on the scale,
Fair judgement may be lost or may be found,
Though in his heart, no countenance to fail.
That man, who makes a smile light up your face
Without a doubt, has proved his right of place.
(P.D. Calendar 2011 August)
is there a link to this calendar?
I have just been to look at the PD Shop on the main website but they don't show the 2011 calendar. However, I did find something which on first sight I thought 'HOW GROSS IS THAT?'
They have manufactured a toy called 'Noodle'. Have you seen it? Go and have a look. I still don't think I care for it - no matter how clever!
I have written a poem about Noodle but have asked the moderator if I am allowed to share it with you all.
Gross it may be, Lin, as was Jane Asher holding up a brain.
Therein lies our future.
As I said to the moderators, he might grow on me!!
Why am I calling it 'he'? I do apologise. Perhaps it is the blue ribbon.
I went to look for the calendar last night but couldn't find it. I saw that thing (under 'Gifts' I think) and thought: "What's THAT?"
[Sorry, I hadn't finished - I hit Post instead of Preview.]
It looks like a ginger root.
I think your poem is stunning, by the way.
Tim, the moderator, has given me permission to post this poem. I thought I had better ask first.
Everyone needs a Noodle!
The must-have, plush new toy.
It comes with recommendation
It is something you’ll enjoy.
You can push it, pull it, prod it,
With cyan blue eyes to match,
You can poke it, pat it, pop it,
It’s great for a game of catch.
He is you and me and all of us,
This is what’s inside your head,
Niddle noddle super noodle!
Brain cell alive or dead? (I may change this line to something more positive)
I really felt the need to rhyme
A thing I do from time to time
I'm feeling very down and blue
I wish I were of a different hue
I do not mean to cause alarm
Certainly not inflict any harm
I am sorry if I have offended
Perhaps least said is soonest mended
I keep the wireless on all night
Along with a bed-side light
The radio seems to tell me things
The light umwelcme shadows brings
I have never before felt like this
Sinking down into an abyss
It may be because I'm so tired
Or the PD drugs making me wired
In my childhood it was stressed
You don't show others your distress
You must keep a stiff upper lip
If you need help pay for it
I thank you all for your support
Without you I'd have been distraughht
I really am very sorry
If I have caused any worry
It's great to hear from you ab. Please stay around here where you have many friends and admirers. WE will try to cheer you up.
Have you heard about the Noodle? See above.
What do you think? Perhaps a Noodle thread would be better.
AB, we hear you loud and clear;
It’s good you feel like talking here.
There’s no need to apologise;
Or worry, or philosophise.
We understand how you must feel
And we’ll be here to help you heal.
i pity the source of hideous noodle
o woe is he alas alack
he now has a vacuum inside his boodle
someone give him his brain cell back
whaaaaat were they thinking? only the olympic mascots come near it in sheer awfulness. revolting. i shall have nightmares.
Thank you Lin - you are a star.
I have been reminded of a filum (that's how we say it here) called "The Return Of Sherlock Holmes". Sherlock for some reason that I cannot remember arrives in the office of a New York cop. Being transported in time and place does not affect his self confidence. Espying the pot noodle on the desk, he , after much blathering, says that the cop's nickname is "noodle" The cop replies "nobody calls me noodle"
That film made me laugh
Oh crumbs, am blathering
many are those with reason to feel
that they've done harm and are a heel
those who whisper and slyly hate
those who shout and pontificate
those whom certainty fills with pride
those whose nature they'd rather hide
The irony is too hard to bear
that those who worry and those who care
are those who have not done their share
of evil but have tried instead
to do whats good and do whats fair
IT is good to think of you laughing ab.
Dear ab, compost, lily, posh bird, titan and turnip (alphabetical order)and anyone I have omitted,
I am leaving this area in your hands - my computer is going for a face-lift so if possible, I will beg a look on somebody else's machine. Otherwise, I hope to be back in business asap.
If noodle talk gets 'big' perhaps start a new thread about it. What do you think?
He actually is beginning to grow on me. Perhaps it is the cure -for what- I don't know!
PARKY NOODLE (Can also be sung)
Parky Noodle went on sale
On the PD website,
But nobody wanted him
Because he looked a real fright.
Parky he had cyan eyes
To match the PD logo
Shame, he looks so bad that I’m
Afraid he’ll be a no go.
The PD book arrived today
And I really have to say
The cards I very much like
But not that awful dendrite
Even when I was very young
I was scared when teddy sung
It was a horible suprise I think
To press his tummy, hear him squeak
My PC's also on the blink
That's what Tesco have me think
But I don't quite believe them
But perhaps I should not condemn
