Hi , @janben. once again it sounds like there “ we don’t want to send out items that will sit in a draw or get binned and end up in landfill ” is out the window as with the cable. ! And the unit that only lasts months. …. This is another reason why I will not buy another one.. surely it just needs a button on the website. “ Which strap would you like” and the cost would be the same for either .. a bit more thought. It doesn’t take much….
Got to agree Polo, the bands that they sent out originally and the the new silicone ones really don’t work well, they are all now ‘sitting in a drawer’ as I bought new ones from ebay that used velcro.
Hubby has 4 that rotate and they are all still working, I did have to send 2 back at different times that stopped working before the 6 month warranty. They have got rid of his ‘internal’ tremor but not as much the hand tremors, they aren’t as bad though.
Not sure what we’ll do when they stop working whether we will get replacements?

Another thing with the band is the warranty of 6 months , consumer rights say an item should work for a reasonable amount of time which could be up to 6 years. the guarantee states that the consumer has statutory rights in relation to the goods and that those rights are not affected by the guarantee,
But this will not include the battery, as it’s a consumable Which is the main factor in falling.
The quality of goods includes their state and condition; and the following aspects (among others) are in appropriate cases aspects of the quality of goods—
(a)fitness for all the purposes for which goods of that kind are usually supplied;
(b)appearance and finish;
(c)freedom from minor defects;
(d)safety;
(e)durability
So is durability more than 6 months.! I believe so,
As you pointed out in your previous reply regarding the ‘landfill’ problem regarding the charging cables but now they’re quite happy for straps to be wasted?
Another gripe is that once the battery dies the whole unit is useless, surely they could make the unit with screws so that the battery can be replaced, it would be another income stream for them?
Hi @janben , i think its been 18 months since launch ,so if the battery only lasts 6 months the first and second batch of batteries have now expired and the third batch are on the way out and customers are purchasing there 4th watch at a cost of around £50 + each so your now looking at £200+. for the 4 watches , 3 of which are now not working and just discarded due to something simple.
Surely for cost efficiency to the customer.. a replacement battery and return service could be thought of ! ( Another tick box on the order form)
As in for an extra £20 or £25 you could sent it back for a battery exchange 3 times , that would include postage and extend its life for say 18 months or 2 years.
Of course in this time ( up to 2 years ) any faults appear you could use any out standing battery replacement cost towards a replacement unit .
At least this way it’s been sent back to the manufacturer, they have said its not working due to some other reason then the battery and they can dispose of it or use it for parts and /or give it to charity given it a second life .
Stops it being thrown on the bin .. of course you can’t do that due to the rechargeable battery .
Obviously I have now ider of the production figures.. but there either in the draw or bin .
Hi. I have 2 beechbands. They do very little for my tremor but they have a calming effect, which is pretty good. As for the buzzing sound, I have 2 suggestions. 1. Push the band higher up your arm so that is a tight fit (the sound seemstobethe pins holding the strap vibrating). 2. If you can turn the unit over by reversing the strap and wear it so that the logo is on contact with your skin, in my case it is much quieter.

I received my beech band yesterday and unfortunateiy it was faulty. Ive returned it for a replacement but I’m dubious about the quality of the BB. It looks and feels very cheap like something you would buy at a market for around £5. If it was reliable quality the £65 price i paid could possibly be justified but like i said it seens vastly over priced for the minimal tech it contains. However im hoping my replacement bb will work property and makes a difference to my mobility issues.
Hubby had a faulty one , it was one of the first batch that was really noisy, it was replaced and has been fine.
Polomint and I have both pointed out as you say about the quality of the build, plus the fact that once the battery goes the unit is defunct. Given that they cited the reason for not including a C cable was to minimise landfill, the throwing away of the unit is even more erroneous. It’s a pity that they couldn’t make the unit with 4 small screws so that the battery can be replaced, far more eco friendly?
On another point, hubby still has his tremors, they start and stop, his internal tremor has gone which is good.

I found the case was 3D printed not much inside , we purchased a metronome watch
You can set it to different speeds and beats maybe you could find one that is better for you then just one beat hardly any sound , it looks better , cost from around £ 20 to £ 40 depending on the out let you buy from .
We would never buy another BB , I think I saw they had sold 64000 I just wonder how many are working still ? And only 6 months warranty …. That needs to be investigated sale of goods act …. !

@Polomint I’ve been following this thread since I started it and I agree with your comments. I wouldn’t buy another either. The only thing it did for me was to annoy everyone around me with the incessant buzzing.
I joined one of the webinars and heard that MkII was being launched with a couple of tweaks and at a considerable price. I asked ‘if I own the original MkI version, will I get a discount on MkII’. I wasn’t surprised when I was told ‘No’!
I also did the maths based on your figure of 64000 sold.

Hello @Dusty68 firstly thank you ..for taking the time to read this , this is only my opinion of the BB but it’s nice to see I’m not alone.
It’s like every thing about Parkinson’s .. it’s not a one size fits all ,
So if as I read there are around 150,000 diagnosed PD cases in the UK , if I read they have sold 64,000 that’s around 40% of the UK market .( I know it’s sold overseas ) sounds good .. but how many don’t work anymore and are in the bin complete with battery ! ( Was told battery can not be removed ) , how many in drawers and how many have been repeat orders , as there is now a new model.. bigger battery !
So it my come down to only 10,000 users that get any benefit of this . That’s good for them every little helps !
We purchased one of the first ones.. showing it around .. to everyone we could.. went to see a consultant , it was doing it’s thing.. the consultant asked “ what is that noise it’s vibrating the table “ . Had to take it off .
Could not go to the theatre or pictures with it on . We called it “the duck “
When it stopped working after 7 months.. we were offered 10 % off a new model ,can’t repair it can’t exchange it , can send it back at our expense.

Hello @Dusty68 everyday research is happening ,we don’t see it . mice and humans are being tested to see the effects of different medications as stem cell , dopamine medication. .
It just takes that one little spark that one moment to find a cure .. it must be out there as Parkinson’s is one of top brain conditions to effect humans .
I say top but according to WHO it’s not listed ! On there top 10

@Polomint And how frustrating that is. I’ve lost count of how many studies are being carried out, research, possible cures etc. Then I never hear or read anything else about it. Maybe I should research deeper.
