Botulinum injections for Dystonia

Hi Bettyblue

Cool name. The tablets am on are Tizanidine.

Hi Zo, nice to meet you, i have not heard of them i am on trihexephindel that is most likely completly spelt wrong i will check spelling in morning and repost. The injection i take is very effective though. It is a quick acting but short lasting drug on a really bad day i have had 9 Distonia attacks on a good day none. I am 100% convinced it is effected by the cold and stress as well.

Hi again Zap.  Would you care to share what you describe as 'the normal Parkinson's drugs'. Has there been any attempt to find which of them is causing your eyes to shut?  Or is it put down as another symptom of PD?

Hi Shaking Stephen. I am on Madopar, 150mg 4 times a day. According to my specialist it is not the medication that is causing the Blepharospasm. Instead I am under the impression that it is just another PD symptom. So I guess that it was coincidence that the Blepharospasm followed soon after the start of the medication and in those days I was on Sinemet not Madopar. I have found that some things trigger a spasm such as a cold draft or bright lights. Eating seems to relive the problem as does talking or working with my hands.

Hi Bettyblue nice talking to you

The only injection my Doctor has said is Botox. Can i ask were you get the Distonia, i get it in my toes on both feet and my left ankle turn's outwards. The only thing i find helps is heat i put my feet in hot water or get a hot water bottle, and my husband rubs my ankle. I still don't know what brings my attacks on. The other day i forgot to put my patches on and i started at 2.00 o'clock in the afternoon having attacks till 8,00  at night when i remembered i had'nt put my patches on. Any way i will stop going on.

Hope to hear from you sone: Zo

HI Zoe, mine starts in my feet then attacks my right shoulder then most problematic for me then it hits my jaw. The cold and stress are my main triggers then sometimes if i am a bit late with my meds and also for no reason at all. It was my parky specialist who prescribe apo go. Some pd drs are now of the opion to prescribe it sooner rather that later but is is a strong drug and not without side effects like nausea you would have to have a responce test as a day case in hospital let me know if you are thinking about it and i will pop leaflet that comes with mine in post to you xx BB xx
