DBS - What do you wish you'd asked

I’m new to this forum and can’t find anything recent on this so apologies if there is already an active thread…

I am going with my husband - 58 years old, 8 years PD- to Multi Disciplinary Team meeting at Queen Square next week prior to him having DBS.

In the 45 minutes we have I’m very anxious to try and get all the answers I need. I have read quite a lot about it but I’d love to hear from anyone who has experienced DBS as patient or partner

• what good sources of information can you recommend?

• what do you wish you had asked/ known more about before you had the DBS?

DBS + GBA mutation concern

Latest research indicates a negative effect on cognition after DBS for those with the GBA mutation. " We advise that DBS candidates be screened for GBA mutations as part of the pre-surgical decision-making process. We advise that GBA mutation carriers be counseled regarding potential risks associated with STN-DBS and alternative options may be considered."
