Dopamine agonist threads

.
Hi Parkiman.

The activities you describe are probably illegal under normal circumstances, unless a defendant can prove that at the time of the offence(s) he had no control of his mind (and essentially was therefore unable to tell right from wrong and/or stop himself) as a direct result of taking prescribed (NOT illegal) drugs.

From my experience, the scenario would be:

1. Police discover crime(s);
2. Police arrest suspect;
3. Defendant engages a criminal solicitor (a legal right);
4. Defendant, with solicitor alongside, is interrogated, charged & bailed;
5. Defendant claims legal aid (a legal right);
6. Solicitor engages barrister with experience in DA/OCD cases;
7. Barrister engages expert scientific witness (eg. a Prof of PD neurology);
8. Case comes to criminal court;
9. Defendant pleads guilty to avoid jury trial, but with mitigating circumstances;
10. Judge hears all the evidence;
11. Judge finds him technically guilty, but gives him an unconditional discharge.

Parkiman,

Your ID has been set up not to receive private messages.
If you need any more info, feel free to P/M me.

Rgds, Ray.
Everything ok, Parkiman?
Parkieman a brave first post,the most important issue is not the legality of what you are doing thousands without PD are doing the same,what is more important than anything is that you have realised that this is a problem that is taking control,most certainly drug induced.the biggests step is telling someone be it a neuro a nurse a forum.Personally regarding Rays post it would have terrified me,I dont think it was constructive Ray Particularly after your post about thinking and interpretation of messages.Parkie man wants help guidance reassurance hope.Yes Parkieman there are others with the same problem if you wish to talk or correspond with someone who has dealt with the same problem I know others with the same issues who are coming through this,I am sure you could if you wish talk to a fellow parkie who understands your problem if you think it might help let me know. good luck your post was a positve move be reassured.
Hi parkieman pleased your back and would like to help please message me if you think I can be of help.take care
Hi Purps.

Parkiman's initial post, in my opinion, showed he was now in control of the obsession, but what clearly terrified him the most was what would happen to him if the police "came for him".

My response and subsequent PMs therefore explained the legal process if the worst came to the worst, and reassured him that ultimately he would not get any punishment.

Better to have all the information and prepare, than to stay unnecessarily in a state of panic don't you think?

.
You should take a bow Parkiman...you have began the process of beating the DA's, by simply realizing that you have a problem, you are now aware that you need help.

Please make an appointment to see your neuro and take a friend or family member with you, if possible. You really do have to address this problem now. If you wish to private massage me, feel free as I, as do many other on this site, have personal experiences of compulsive disorders as a result of taking PD meds.

Please let us know your progress.

regards

Perhaps,but I would tread softly facts are facts your right but,I would establish communication with more reassurance because I feel at that first point its a knock on the door and the decision to come in depends on response from the other side,my gut reaction was how frightening,I percecieved that to be highly likely to be how the poster would also feel its not the easiest admission the world as you know from your own experiences.I shall agree to differ on this occasssion.
Many thanks to those who have replied/messaged me. It's a great relief to know there are people I can speak to about the mess I got myself into. Also thanks for the advice and suggestions I've already received.

To those who worried that Ray's initial response was a little scary, let me reassure you. It was no worse than the stuff that goes through my mind every time I hear a car stop outside. Except, now I'm not so alone, I'm not so scared.

BTW the DAs have been really helpful to me. If I'd been a bit less self assured and had listened when the consultant mentioned possible problems or even read the paperwork that comes with the medication then I might not have had the problem in the first place.

Regards to all
Parki
Hi Parkiman
Mu husband has had Parkinson's for 10 years and has always been treated with DAs.
6 years ago he began to view porn and became addicted to it, using more and more and viewing more extreme stuff.
His behaviour became controlled by the DAs to the extent that he became infatuated with a young Malasian woman who persuaded him to give her £30,000 and cash in all our savings and give her access to them.
When I discovered his double life and all the lies and deceit I found the forum and was helped to understand how the drugs had turned this kind , gentle man into a monster.
So tell someone now. Don't wait until you can no longer tell right from wrong. Take the info about the DAs from the Parkinsons site and ask for help. Do not let this escalate.
No longer taking the requip XL, my husband is becoming his old self once again but our lives are so damaged.
You have the information now to stop yourself becoming another victim.
Please take the first step to a happier future.
Love

Goldengirl you are an absolute star. You've stood by your man and been dragged to hell and back. You could have chosen one of many easier options for yourslf but you clung on by your fingertips and refused to let either of you go under.

As you know I've been there, and know how God-awful it is. You deserve a medal, lady. I hope your hubby is starting to realise what a golden girl he's got!

Is Ray ok? Several blank posts.
I'm ok thanks.
Many thanks, Goldengirl, for taking the time to answer my post. When I read it I feel lucky at how minor my mess is.

I have an explanation for why I behaved in such an untypical way and believe that awareness/insight into the way the DAs can make me behave will stop me from going off the rails again.

The next step is to talk to my wife about it. That will be much harder :-(

Again, many thanks,
Parki

Hi Parki.

If your good lady finds anything hard to believe and you need back-up, anyone here who's been through it will be happy to contact her.

Alternatively we can provide loads of links to press articles, scientific research, TV programmes and legal rulings.

In addition the Parkinson's UK Helpline would be an ideal starting point. They're very friendly and understanding, and totally discreet.

Regards,

Ray.

Hi all, just to say, well done to Parkie and good luck telling your wife and also to say to everybody out there who contributes to this thread.....wow it is such a good feeling to know that at least one person has been helped by it!!!

Don't forget Goldengirl. She was close to the edge a few weeks ago. Wll done that lady!
Hi Everyone
Did the meeting take place yesterday and if so, how did it go?
Hi GG.

I wasn't able to make it myself for PD reasons.

However I've not heard a single word from anyone at all.

Last time there was a meeting with forum members (an online real-time "discussion group"), it was days before some "official minutes" were posted, and they bore no resemblance to reality.
.
Surely someone went who contributes to this forum?
Please e-mail privately if you want what you say to remain confidential. So many damaged people are hoping against hope that the society is ready to put in place advice and procedures to help those who are badly affected by the DAs and take steps to identify others far soonerPerhaps Ezinda could ensure that an account of the meeting's deliberations could be posted asap?
