I’m thinking of getting an electric bike, as I find my legs really ache with a normal bike. Is that a sensible buy for someone with early onset?. I already have a two wheeled electric scooter which I manage to use to help me when I’m out walking to get up hills.
Hi, Neilrich65.
We’re sure our amazing community will share their own experiences with you, but it sounds like an electric bike could be a great idea, especially if you’re experiencing leg aches with a regular bike. Electric bikes can help reduce the strain on your legs, allowing you to keep active without overexerting yourself, which is really important for managing Parkinson’s. Of course, it’s always a good idea to speak to your healthcare team or a physiotherapist to ensure it’s the right choice for you.

I think any exercise helps with PD I think using an electric bike sounds like a good idea you can rest in-between bouts of cycling.
Try B4 you buy or hire one to see how you go.
Hope it works
Thanks Lar
Yes I was considering that as I’ve never ridden one before.
Yes, considering an electric bike is a sensible option, especially if you’re already finding physical strain with a regular bike. For someone with early onset mobility challenges, an e-bike can provide the right balance between exercise and assistance. Since you’re already comfortable using a two-wheeled electric scooter, transitioning to an electric bike should be manageable and may even enhance your independence while reducing leg fatigue, particularly on inclines.
