Hi I have not been on the forum for a while.
For the last couple of weeks I have had very sore and heavy legs (the pain is so bad that Ive got to take pain killers every day.) First thing in the morning it is so bad I can hardly walk and also last thing at night when Ive been on my feet for a long time it gets so bad. Is this a sign that my "parkys" is getting worse?. I dont want to go to my Doctor as I feel since Ive been diagnosed (year and half ago)that I have never been away from her with one thing and another. Any advice please.
Its nice to be back on the forum

This is a reply to Lilly's message of 29th May. Your foot turning sounds like a PD symptom to me. I get it sometimes, but only when I am having a particularly bad episode of my toes curling under. The medical term is dystonia. It only happens these days when I have not managed to keep my level of Sinemet or its generic equivalent high enough. This sometimes happens when one dose has worn off more quickly than usual, the next dose has not yet kicked in and I have to walk more than say 100 yards.
You don't say what meds you are on. I was on Pramipexole (Mirapexin) only when I started having the problems with my right foot. They were intermittent and I managed without taking anything else, but when I was put on Sinemet to deal with my ragdoll posture problems it sorted out the foot problem as well.
It might be worth checking with your consultant, as I doubt if physiotherapy will stop the dystonia, although it should help you to regain normal walking once the meds are working.

Hi All
I have just recently been with my Dad (he is the sufferer) to his specialist appointment and one of his main concerns is heavy legs and being exhausted the specialist stated that this is not a symptom of the pd but having read this forum with posts from real people going through this it is obvious that it is, I don't know how we will be able to persuade the specialist or gp and get some different meds sorted out? Dad is currently trying to come off his meds (as he blames them for the effects of the heavy legs) and see how it effects him, so far the meds have sorted his tremor but that is about all, I hope for Dad and all of you that this is something that can be sorted out.
