I shall try again, Morph carefully. The above posts sparked this ..........what happened to real Mars bars?
They used to be like me......thick and chunky. Now they are thin and tasteless compared to the old days.
Now I'm moving on into the sixties......I hope this does not seem sexist.......
I remember you girls looking like a young mans dream. Mini skirts, fab hairdo's (Cathy McGowan style.....long and moody, Cilla style.........combed back), white teddy bear coats, white lace up boots, Dusty Springfield eyes......dancing round handbags.
Today there is no such allure......the respect has gone, young ladies are not treated properly and half of them fall about drunk. I remember the young ladies accepting a drink or two, but not being sick.
AND......I love this bit.......'my mate fancies you'. Those four words set the world on fire. What would I give for someone to come up to me and say that again.......purely for nostalgic reasons.....I am very happily married. It would be such a laugh done in the right kind of attitude.
Mosie mentioned getting a council house. We got one when I was 5. I instantly got a dozen new friends. Growing up in that community was brill.
If you got an old cardboard box for wickets, an old bat and a tennis ball you could guarantee within five minutes a full game of cricket was under way and all the Dad's came out to join in.
I still have friends from that era. One always says....... we all love each other like brothers......and it's true.
Time wears out bodies, but it can't wear out memories. Keep posting it's fascinating.
