The glare of lights dazzles her eyes,
She stops abruptly in her tracks,
A screech of brakes- so loud she cries-
Confuses her mind; all now blacks.
She turns around, races ahead,
Cannot escape the demon lights,
Veers to the left, seeking her bed,
Comfort and safety through the nights.
All is dark in this unknown land,
Nothing to see in blinded state.
Fear is quashed as she raises hand
To find the way to opened gate.
This way and that she turns her head,
While the deep sound of silence hums,
Her heart beats fast; she needs her bed,
Impenetrable darkness comes.
She screams out loud, as loud she can,
She is lost in the sooty dark,
Echoes resound, she feels a fan
Cooling her down, making its mark.
She takes a breath, tries to relax,
Then she reaches the top of the hill.
The doctor comes with all the facts-
Very poorly, but with us still.
