Monthly Roundup - August 19

Welcome to the new Monthly Community Roundup category. :grinning:

There are a lot of helpful and engaging discussions that takes place on the forum and we’d hate for anyone to miss out on them. That’s why we bring you a round up of the best content from across the forum, so you don’t miss a beat and you are kept abreast of information that can help you.

  • This month we’ve seen the forum grow even bigger and we are pleased to welcome @gino2, @Sarah2, @SamS, @Marg1 and @Andy95 to the community . I hope that you’ve all immersed yourself in the forum and have received the help and support that you require. Please don’t be a stranger, we are here to help in anyway we can and those who haven’t done so already, please take the time to say “hello!” :slightly_smiling_face:

  • We need as many people as possible to tell us about different aspects of life with Parkinson’s so that we can find out where changes are needed and make a difference. We place people with Parkinson’s at the centre of everything we do and we really value your feedback. With that being said, please tell us about your experiences of Parkinson’s health and social care services by taking our survey HERE.

  • I received some great feedback from @Tot about ways to improve this category with her suggestion to highlight some other categories for those that may need a gentle nudge in the right direction, especially if you are new to the forum. So if you’d like to post on the forum but you’re not sure where to start, here’s a quick list to help you out…

    1. Want to tell us a bit about yourself? Check out our ‘About Me’ category

    2. We know many people with Parkinson’s experience insomnia which is why we have a very active ‘Insomnia’ thread for those of you that need someone to speak to during the early hours of the morning.

    3. Cannabis is a very popular topic on the forum which is why it is no surprise that it’s also one of the top searches on the platform as well. If you’d like to speak to other members about this topic which also explores CBD, you can find a few threads on it here and here.

    4. If you’d like to learn more about DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) or if you’d like to share your experience with it, there are several threads that you can comment on. Please visit these threads here, here and here.

    5. Anxiety is another popular topic on the forum due to it being a very common symptom associated with Parkinson’s and there are multiple threads that our members engage in. You can contribute to these threads here and here.

    6. Lastly, for a little light relief, we have our Social and Creative corner. Here you can join in with poetry, play word games and add to our your favourite tunes to our music.
