Hello Alison,
We’re very sorry to hear about your current challenges. Parkinson’s and sometimes medication side effects can cause awful personality changes. We would encourage you to speak with your OH’s medical team. We would also invite you to call us on 0808 800 0303. You can speak with a kind and highly knowledgeable advisor with a fleet of resources at their disposal. You may be surprised at what they can accomplish for you.
Additionally, please have a look at these support services. We assure you that you are not alone. Our support services | Parkinson's UK

Hi Alison, my husband has Advanced PD and has had some personality changes, mainly he gets irritable and unreasonable at times… and yes, he saves this bit of his personality for me! I have found reaching out to professionals - the Parkinson’s nurse really helpful and as the moderator suggests the Parkison’s advice line. I am slighly worried that you are immobilised and are on the receiving end of hostility… even though it is down to the cognitive changes that are no doubt happening, it could put you in an unsafe situation. You could ring Adult Social Services and say you feel you are in an unsafe situation and take it from there. Perhaps if there were carers coming in regularly to help you both it would take the heat off the situation? You can also speak to your GP or another medical professional that you are under the care of - such as the district nurse? If the first person you speak to isn’t helpful or doesn’t listen, try another one. And, I urge you to speak to a close friend or family member so you can share how you are feeling.

Thanks for these suggestions. I’ve managed to find an email address for the Parkinson’s nurse, so will get in touch with her.
