Parkinson’s and separation

Good evening, I’m concerned about my brother, whose wife has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. They were in the process of separating, but now he feels obligated to stay and help her. He’s under enormous strain and, I believe, deeply unhappy. But I think he feels guilty if he doesn’t stay. They have two teenage kids. Has anyone else had a similar experience and can offer some advice on what to do, seek alternative support from? He would still continue to support his wife even if he wasn’t living with her. I don’t want him to do something that will make him unhappy.
It’s a such a difficult situation thank you for any advice

Whatever your brother does somebody will judge him. You and him need to sit down away from distractions and discuss what’s best for him. If that means carrying on with the process of separating then so be it. There is a lot of support, help and advice out there for your sister-in-law, your brother shouldn’t be trapped in a marriage that isn’t working just because he’s being made to feel obligated because his wife has PD

Thank you for your reply. Is this issue something the charity can help/support with? He’s taking everything on himself and won’t get advice or support from anyone else. he thinks he can/should do it all because of their children, irrespective of his own happiness.

Again, thanks so much.
