Problems with hands

Hi everyone. My husband has been living with Parkinsons since the age of 39 ( he is now 64). My hubby has been complaining about his hands, particularly the palms. Skin coming off (but not a lot) and also sensory issues. One example of the sensory issues was when his tablets were in his hands, he struggled to ‘locate’ the tablets in his palm. He said his hands feel funny, this has only been very recently. He is seeing a haemotologist soon as he has very low blood platelets in his system, not sure if there is a connection. Has anyone else had this issue? He is otherwise doing ok, still independent with a lot of things. His diet is very healthy etc.

Hello Casliz - thanks for posting. Our community will be able to give you some great advice however in the meantime we have some recourses here that may help: Dexterity and Parkinson's | Parkinson's UK

All the best

Could it be a side effect of any drugs he is on for his PD?

These symptoms do not sound like the symptoms of thrombocytopenia (low platelets). I am sure the haematologist will look at any drugs he is taking but will also be looking for a blood problem related to his immune system and may want to do a bone marrow biopsy.

Sending good thoughts
