I was diagnosed in April this year with YOPD aged 46. For the previous 4 years pre diagnosis my wife described me as a cardboard cut out of myself. I became very difficult to communicate with and was very withdrawn. I believe this is due to Parkinson’s starting to take hold of me. I had no physical symptoms other than a barely noticeable tremor in one hand and a strange gait. She thought that I did not love her anymore and I didn’t want to be with her. Mentally she moved on. Now 6 months post diagnosis I feel my meds are making me better and I feel more alive. Despite this my wife cannot undo the mental damage the previous years caused her and the relationship. Yesterday after being together for 20 years and married for 16 she told me she wants us to separate. I am devastated. I did not mind being diagnosed with Parkinson’s and post diagnosis with the benefits of medication was looking forward to rebuilding our lives together. Today I resent Parkinsons for stealing my marriage from me. Future is now uncertain
