If you create a new thread, you should receive a private email notification whenever someone contributes to the thread. All notifications should be sent to your inbox here, 
It sounds to me that you’ve been receiving notifications whenever someone posts to your thread which is completely normal, however, if you’d like to change this, you can do so by editing this in the ‘notifications’ section in your account. Please see the email below. If you select ‘Never’ in the area that I’ve highlighted then this should stop you from receiving notifications going forward.
