Well folks, it's good to be back - hope you're all keeping well.
I have been quite looking forward to a coffee and a Danish in the 'Red Rose Cafe' and telling anyone who would listen about my nightmare first 18 days of September .
I'll tell you a bit about it anyway - it all started back in June, when we sold the house we'd lived in for 35 years, to downsize to something more manageable for an old Parkies guy like me , and the long suffering wife.
Over 2000 sq, feet down to just under 1000sq, feet meant of course that so many things had to go- heartbreaking really, and it took nearly three weeks to clear it all.
Anyway, my super inefficient solicitor ( recommended by the estate agent ) took until 30 August to complete the sale - and then only by a whisker.
So we had to move or lose the sale, but 'BUT' the legal work on the new property hadn't been done , that's right not done - she'd only had the instruction since June 14th
, over 2 months - so all of a sudden we're homeless, 'no fixed abode' "on the street', everything in storage, except some kit in a bag for each of us, including the dog.
We have had 1 night with family, 2 nights in a caravan in Rye, 1 night in a travelodge, 3 nights in a country hotel, 3 nights in a caravan in Devon, and 8 nights in another hotel outside Hungerford, whilst our dozy solicitors sorted things out. We spent so much time in the car, it' s now like a second home to us.
The pressure and the tension have not done me any good I'm afraid, Parky took the opportunity to kick me when I was down, and I have graduated from a walking stick to a 'walker' - a three wheeled job with brakes.
I hope to get back to just a stick eventually, when things have settled down, and we are in the new house, at last, but unpacking and hanging curtains, blinds, mirrors, pictures etc. etc. using a walker - nightmare.
Everyone says 'sue' the solicitor for damages to health and wealth, but I don't know- costly business and we could end up worse off I think?
Anyway, that's my little first contribution to the great new forum - can't seem to upload a photo from an iPad though.
