My mum has recently been admitted to hospital because of a bad fall whereby she couldn’t get up off of the floor. Previously she has always managed to do this. She has had Parkinson’s for nearly 20 years now.
I believe she is approaching the advanced stage and I was wondering what sorts of things we might expect at this point from people who live through it (and people who help suffers)
I’m really sorry to hear about your mum’s recent bad fall.
Unfortunately, loss of balance and falling affects many people with Parkinson’s and the problem tends to increase over time. We have a lot of information on this on the Parkinson’s website that you may find useful. You can also contact our helpline and speak to one of advisers about this in more detail.
Please give them a call on 0808 800 0303.
Do let me know if there’s anything else that I can help you with.
