When Love Lets You Fly
A marathon begins with a first step,
A jumper needs casting on,
A long marriage begins with a first date,
Counting to infinity starts at one.
To fly you need to spread your wings,
To be allowed to grow,
To have the freedom to take that first step,
Means someone must let go.
Love wants to hold on to what its got,
But true love lets you fly,
Holding on just clips the wings,
Opportunities pass by.
The bonsai tree could have grown so tall,
The caged bird could have soared so high,
The seed that lands on stony ground,
Will wither and then die.
As a sapling reaches to the sun,
Branches growing strong roots spreading wide,
We strive to reach our personal heights,
A feat achieved with pride.
We all deserve the right to fly,
The right to fly higher and longer,
When love sets you free you can blossom and grow,
Making that special bond all the stronger.
