What irony that you and me
As innocents are born
Without the skill to change the world
Helpless and forelawn
Our tinyselves without words ,
Our only hope the helpless cry
And yet in myriads we survive
For who but prime evil would let innocence die
What bigamy in you and me
As innocents once born
Now with the power of thoughts and speech
Who shoot barbed arrowed words and pour out scorn
For in our fight to survive
We've forgotten that love is what keeps us alive
And posessions and kingdoms in our greed are born
For all we really need is love and warmth
What better place our world would be
If we showed again our infant vulnerability
And instead of fighting for false pride
Let go our self interest
Know this that the world will not be overcome
By shouts,anger or loaded guns
But fulfilment shall surely our comfort be
That spreads our wings and sets us to free
In the gentleness of words almost too soft to hear
And the gentle subliminal thought that needs no ear
That in its silence says,I'm vulnerable too
THE SIMPLE UNCONDITIONAL WORDS
" I LOVE YOU "
i penned a couple of poems on a similar theme, a simple one below.
Can a single worded question have a one word reply?
Only, if the answer is yes, or no, you sigh!
Let’s try with some one word interrogations
And answers, now these are my suggestions.
Usually needs an explanation;
Like this poem or observation.
Could be a visitor knocking at the door;
About whom you would like to know more.
Can be choosing to say the right words;
Especially when talking about bees and the birds!
Implies some methodology or description;
Like a procedure for a health and safety instruction!
A timely reply is the order of the day;
Now; later; tomorrow: are answers we can never say.
An explanation with extra details, then;
Perhaps using a what, who, which, how or when.
Take care replying to the question why; it is tough!
Even a thousand words may not be enough!
So it seems it is to the question why?
For which there is never a one word reply.
But wait there’s a single word that can do;
Try love: I’m told it asks no questions, when it is true!
