Hello. Mum has advanced Parkinson’s and dementia.
Her Parkinson’s nurse visited yesterday and has decided that she wants to reduce Mum’s sinemet.
I am struggling to understand the rationale for this and am concerned about the potential impact this is likely to have on Mum.
Has anyone else reduced their medication in more advanced stages of illness?
Thank you.
Hi @yellow_car,
Did you raise your concerns with your mum’s Parkinson’s nurse? There may be a valid reason behind her decision to reduce your mum’s medication, however, I can appreciate your concern about this. I’d recommend that you speak to your mum’s Parkinson’s nurse about this to gain more clarity or contact our helpline on 0808 800 0303 to speak to one of our advisers. They have extensive knowledge on Sinemet and other other forms of Parkinson’s related medication.
We also have an ‘Advance Parkinson’s’ section on the Parkinson’s UK website which you may find has useful information for you.
Please let me know if there’s anything else that I can do for you.
Best wishes,
Reah
