Anti depressants newly diagnoised

Hi

I am 63 and was recently diagnosed only a week ago so it’s all very daunting and a lot to come to terms with

With all the worry leading up to diagnosis I have been suffering quite badly with anxiety and panic

My dr prescribed me Citalopram which I was happy to try but then my consultant said you can’t take that as will interfere with Parkinson so wanted to put me on venlafaxine which worried me as seem stringwithdrawn issues and an affect blood pressure

Any advice with regard to citalopram

Hi Justjules,

Thank you for sharing this, a new diagnosis can be a lot to take in. Do take your time and look after yourself as much as possible.

We’d recommend speaking to your GP or Parkinson’s nurse about this as this is a medication question. They’ll be able to give you the best advice tailored to your specific situation.

You can call our free, confidential helpline on 0808 800 0303 and speak with one of our Parkinson’s nurses who can offer you the advice you need.
All the best,
