Apormorphine pump

Hello…texting for my sister, who is on an Apormorphine pump.

Been on it a couple of years now but since the summer her left hand keeps swelling.

Had it X-rayed and scanned but nothing shows. Does say on the “ instructions “

Anyone else had this please…would just be good to know that this is a thing!

Thank you

Hi @Carolyn_Moore. Firstly, welcome to the group. It’s great to have you here.

Thank you for posting on behalf of your sister. That sounds worrying for both of you, especially when tests haven’t shown a clear cause yet.

Swelling can sometimes happen with apomorphine, but it’s not something everyone experiences. Because it’s a change that’s developed over time, it would be a good idea for your sister’s Parkinson’s nurse or consultant to review her pump settings. They may be able to suggest adjustments or rule out any other causes.

If you’d like to talk things through, our helpline is here on 0808 800 0303. You can speak with one of our Parkinson’s nurses for personalised advice.

I really hope you get some clearer answers soon, and please keep us updated on how she gets on :blue_heart:

Thank you for replying…yes ,she sees her consultant soon so will mention it to him.

It would just be interesting to see if anyone else has experienced this. At least ct scan has ruled out things!

Thank you

Lyn

@Carolyn_Moore hello my wife was on the Apormorphine pump , there is a help line at Britannia pharmaceutical , who distribute the drug .. have you asked or the local representative. Who gave your sister the the pump for advice .

That would be my first line of help. As I think the consultant my also point you to them as well .

Thank you for the replies. My sister has made her Consultant aware.

We were just interested to see if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Maybe absolutely nothing to do with the pump.

Thanks
