I haven’t found much about this online. The main impact on absorption I have read about is related to protein. However I also think that avocados do seem to have a significant impact on medication absorption for me so I generally avoid them now (I was quite pleased to hear it wasn’t just me when it was mentioned on Movers & Shakers!). I don’t really understand why they have an impact.

Thanks Paul. Yes the science behind it all is incredibly complex! But it seems, as you say, that despite avocados being generally thought of as a super-brain-food with its fats etc., the protein issue makes it a problem for Parkies.

Avocados should only cause problems if you are taking levodopa on its own and not when combined with carbidopa:
