Hi @Dr_ava_shamban
Thank you for contributing to this thread, and of course you are absolutely correct. PD medical professionals are a very important asset on our PD journey. Some of us are lucky enough to have very good access to them, some of us not so lucky. Make the most of your access to them.
Ok. I ultimately decided to take my meds as normal due to a slight feeling of wear off. So I conclude my little experiment didn’t seem to work for me.
There are a lot of things to consider when trying out the BB, including discussion with medical professionals. I do believe it relaxes me. Maybe my PD symptoms aren’t bad enough to notice any other significant changes as I’ve seen on many videos. That said, I’ll keep using it and if I notice any changes, I’ll update you
Cheers
D
I sent for mine today so I will hopefully receive it early next week and I am really looking forward with hope, although I know and understand the quality of improvement varies greatly. Positive Mental Attitude!
There is a BeechBand private page on Facebook, if anyone doesn’t already know and there’s lots of interaction and helpfulness. Also, Movers and Shakers on FB is starting to discuss this innovation.
Thank you for sharing this. It’s so understandable to want to explore every possible option for managing Parkinson’s symptoms. It’s clear from the thread that the effectiveness of the Beechband can be very different from person to person.
The most important takeaway is to always consult with your medical team before starting any new treatment or device. Their guidance is essential for your safety and well-being. It’s great to see a thread like this where people can share their honest feedback and support one another in the process.
Hi we tried with metronomes but they weren’t as effective after numerous tests due to the sharpness of the delivery. Also the frequency has to be set at a precise level. It’s also risk free with 45 days money back guarantee
Hi, Carl here. This is true for about 1% of years and there are very specific reasons why. I do encourage you to email [email protected] to arrange a chat with us. The good news is that it’s often indicative of some very good outcomes to follow.
Hi Carl
Yes point taken.Unless I have the two to compare side by side then I only have my experience of the metronome to go by so not a fair comparison!
We have one of the first batch of “Beechband” I would think by now , the 6 months warranty has expired and most have stopped working due to battery failure… like ours has .
The battery is easy accessible. LQ S1 and replacement cost around £5.00 .I would imagine there going to the same across the models .
Hope this helps.
Hi, I bought 2 BB’s for hubby as his tremors were affecting both arms. We bought 2 so that he could change as soon as one ran out. We received them on 3/10/25 and in the first week it seemed that they were helping.
He wears them all day from approx 9am to midnight. The tremors seem to have come back, he has periods when sitting and watching tv when he doesn’t tremor.
I know it says it can take 6 weeks or more to feel the real benefit as the brain has to adjust. The main problem is that reading that most people seem to feel the benefit within a week or so.
Today he was drinking a coffee and his hand was shaking and it spilt, this has never happened before.
I know no clinical studies have been done, but is there any feedback about the actual time it really takes to work ,and, are there people it doesn’t work for?
Thanks for reading and anyone who takes the time to reply.
Hi, @Janben. Thank you for sharing. It’s completely understandable to feel uncertain when things seem to improve at first and then fluctuate.
As you mentioned, there haven’t yet been any independent clinical studies confirming how (or how consistently) devices like the BeechBand work for people with Parkinson’s. Some people report benefits quite quickly, while others notice little or no change. The variability is normal, and there are several factors, like medication timing, stress, or tiredness, that can affect tremor from day to day.
If you’d like to talk things through, our helpline can also offer advice and guidance on other approaches to managing tremor or adjusting medication. You can reach our trained experts and specialist nurses on 0808 800 0303 (9am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and 10am and 1pm on Saturdays).
I hope this helps and send you and your husband our best!
Well in the end, I gave up. I thought at the beginning it helped me relax but that was it. So I increased my exercise level, 2 or 3 days a week at the gym. I find that does a lot more for my symptoms alongside my medication. Everyone is different though and reacts to different therapies.
Hi @Dusty68 thanks for your reply. I think anxiety could be a contributing factor. He was watching footy when he spilled the coffee:) [although it wasn’t his team]. He goes to walking footy 3 times a week and has his own gym to keep as fit as possible. He’s going to continue with the BB he may need longer for it to help.
mine arrived but I am struggling to use it because it’s not waterproof and my hands are in and out of water so frequently I am afraid to wear it in case I get it wet.
I have stopped the irritating noise though by placing a sports sweat band over it. Cuts the noise easily by 50%
@Artgeek you could try it on your ankle? Hubby also wears a sweatband over his and it does dampen the sound[ which I liken to a duck with a sore throat]
It has gotten to the stage where he doesn’t notice it, but unfortunately everyone else does. Hence the band.
@Janben … We had one , it worked ok , my wife said she got some benefit from it , I think she may have got water on via the switch hole . I think that should have a rubber gasket around… but saying that a new battery and it works .
But now we have found a metronome watch set at 80 beats works just as well ,its splash proof battery lasts longer … plus it was around £20.00 . From Amazon, AliExpress. For that price … try it !
The strap is easier as well.
It seams to have a more snappy beat less noise ( BB sounds like a duck quack)
I’m not knocking the BB but I think it needs a lot of improvement and now it’s over £50
