Hi and welcome the forum, @Thomasg2. Everyone has their own reaction to their diagnosis. The important thing is knowing and getting the best advice and care that you can. I’m sure that others here will have their own stories about how they felt and still feel.

If you do feel the need to talk to anyone about this, we’re here to listen. You can reach our Helpline on 0808 800 0303.

I’m looking forward to hearing more from you as you continue this journey.

Hello Thomasg2
JaniceP is quite right in what she said, everyone reacts to their diagnosis in their own way. I don’t believe it’s because you have no feelings. I think it is either you are not ready to take on board all the implications of living with a condition like Parkinson’s so your brain more or less shuts down on the subject or, and I think more likely in your case, you simply have the ability to absorb difficult news without undue emotion which most would struggle to understand. Just because many people are totally shocked by such news, struggle to make sense of it and don’t see any future for themselves plenty more react entirely differently. There’s no right or wrong way to react to your diagnosis or indeed any other aspect of Parkinson’s, the only way that matters is that which is unique to you, whatever that might be.
