Can you change nurse etc

I have a nurse I see, but they are a long way and based in another county. There is a hospital a 10min walk from my home. I was at the hospital last week, after a minor accident, and one of the medical staff said I should ask to move there - would they do this? It is tough at the moment, especially now we have no free transport.

Hello @Roy_Phillips , thank you for your question. We’re sorry to hear you had a minor accident recently. We hope you’re doing better now. The referral process for accessing a nurse differs depending on where you live. You can find out more on our website: Parkinson's nurses | Parkinson's UK

You can also find out what support is available near you: https://localsupport.parkinsons.org.uk/

We are here if you ever need us, too. Our free, confidential helpline is available to anyone affected by Parkinson’s. Our trained advisers can offer support and advice, and you can ask to speak to one of our Parkinson’s nurses: 0808 800 0303

Thank you. My injury was a broken thumb - I had a fall in the street. It seems daft to me that I face this long and expensive journey when there’s someone I could see a 10 min walk away. I shall look into it.

I haven’t seen my ps nurse for ages I can’t remember when she last visited must be two years , I expect I am a low priority.

Next time you are at GP, maybe ask if there is a neurology department at the nearer hospital. It could be that the further hospital has the better team to look after you or the nearer hospital might have a waiting list. If the nearer one can take you on, you may have to wait. You could also try contacting your local council and ask for adult social care. They may know of community transport options to help.
