Hi,
I am looking for advice please if anyone can help. I am 62 and diagnosed just over 2 years ago and live in Wiltshire. Just to make life interesting I also have Crohn’s disease (30+ years)
Just before diagnosis my wife and I were thinking of moving to Cornwall. However, after mentioning this in passing to my neurologist they advised against the move because the level of PD care is not as good as Wilts. Does anyone on here live in Cornwall and can you give me your thoughts please?
Any information is much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello @Lordfitwasp, welcome to the forum. We hope you find it a helpful community to ask questions, share experiences and hear from people who really understand.
We understand it can be a difficult decision to make when moving, as your current care is in Wiltshire. We hope the community can share their personal experiences living in Cornwall.

Hi, I don’t live in Cornwall but do live in Devon & judging by what I/we see on the local ITV Station you would probably be better off moving here or Somerset as we’ve got great Neuro services in both Exeter(RDE Hospital) & Bristol(Southmead Hospital). Cornwall NHS tend to struggle with providing services plus in many cases you have to travel a long way to get the service you want !!
Hi Cruisecontroller, thanks for the reply. Your comment is exactly as my neurologist told me. He said Devon and Somerset have good neuro cover but Cornwall not as good. We would love to move to Cornwall and although my symptoms are fairly mild at the moment (2.5 years diagnosed, I am 62) I have got to think of the future. I also have Crohn’s disease (30+ years) so must think of that also. Once again thanks.
You’re welcome, Cornwall is a beautiful place ideal for a holiday but not so handy if you’ve got major medical issues like you have. Once again, getting Doctor’s Appointments are more difficult in Cornwall whereas here in Devon it is no problem at all. Think long & hard about a move & all the implications involved. In the meantime take good care of number one.
