Hi there. I just want to ask how people manage at work with their tremors if they are public facing (i am a receptionist in a busy hospital) and then the anxiety that goes with that.
I am waiting to speak to occupational health currently.
Hi Ursh,
Welcome to our community forum. You’ve brought up a very common topic, and you’re sure to hear from the group soon. We found a bit of information on our website which you may find worth a read, though this is a broad discussion and would benefit from a search, which will also yield archived forum threads on the subject. Anxiety | Parkinson's UK.
We also have a free and confidential helpline, on 0808 800 0303, where a friendly advisor will be happy to answer any questions and assist in a variety of ways.
We hope these resources can help, and with our warmest welcome,
Jason

Have you spoken with your neurologist about medication to better control your tremors?
I hope your your meeting with OH goes well. They may suggest that a reasonable adjustment under the Equalities Act would be to move to a role that is not public facing. My experience is that stress makes my tremors worse.
Regards
Doug
Hi Douglas
I am also thinking a non public facing role would be better.
I am waiting for review with neurologist consultant.
Many thanks
i simply explain to people that i have parkinson’s and that the tremors, funny body positions, slack face, etc., simply don’t mean what they look like at first glance.
the single biggest problem i have is people thinking i am angry/upset/sad/etc. when this is just slack muscles due to parkinson’s. so that’s always the first thing i explain. the second biggest problem is slowness, so i explain that i’m slow due to parkinson’s.
hope this helps somehow!
