Hi everyone, so I have recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s it’s took a long time as my symptoms started in 2010. Even though I was suspecting the diagnosis I’ve been really emotional , I’m guessing buecause I’ve finally been told. I have been referred for a Datscan and don’t know much about this so has anyone else had a Datscan and what should I expect?. If it’s anything like an MRI scan I’m worried that I might struggle to stay still as my tremors kick in when I’m at rest. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@Mimmi It will be fine I had mine last year and it was quite straightforward, You have an injection, then wait for about a hour before having the scan. There is nothing to get stressed over at all.

Hello Mimmi .. I had what I was told was a positive datscan 3 years ago by an NHS neurosurgeon. 9 months ago I had that scan reviewed by an excellent neurosurgeon. he thought it normal.
In a way a datscan is a waist of time as you will be put on the same medication either way positive or negative.
Best wishes
