Diagnosis

Hi all, hopefully you’re ready for Christmas???
Any thoughts would be appreciated, as I have finally had the results of my DAT scan which came back negative. However I have responded positively to Madopar which i have been taking for a couple of months. Neurologist is certain i have FND and wants me to come off the medication
I am worried that all my symptoms will return and i will be where I was a few months ago, unable to work. The neurologist said my symptoms were better as my brain had increased dopamine which i will now have to think of natural ways to make more.
Before I got sick i was in the gym 3/4 times a week and had healthy diet/lifestyle…
Treatment for FND is physio and cbt and the waiting lists are horrendous.

Hi Clay,
Wow, there is very little I can say until your neuro actually knows what the problem is.
FND is a “go to” diagnosis, when there is doubt as to what the actual problem is.
You say the neuro says it definitely isn’t PD, and I feel if he is so positive, go with his feelings.
I would however definitely go for a second opinion.

Hello,

DAT scans can be inconclusive like mine was. Is your specialist a movement disorder specialist?

General neurologist. Seeing him again next week. Stopped meds on Christmas day so I am 'clean ’ when I see him…

Hi all.
Thankfully the neurologist says I can continue taking Madopar as it is improving some of my symptoms. I am also having some more blood tests done and he’s referring me to a specialist. Yay.

YAY and YAY.
 :grinning:
