Hi.
I think it's just one of those throwaway lines people use when chatting, I've used it myself more than once.
"I've paid in enough all my life, it's about time I got something back" just indicates a lifetime of paying money into "the system", i.e. the public coffers, and not get anything obvious back. Daft of course, but I suppose it cheers folk up to think that they're getting something extra after all those years.

Hi,
I'm really annoyed and confused,I had a call from DAB late yesterday afternoon saying DLA had contacted them and that they had recieved my appeal to late!!!!
Day I recieved appeal form I contacted dab ,within 2 weeks filled form in and she said she would copy and send.If she delayed sending form back where do I stand??? Everything possible seems to be going wrong.Just when think I am getting there letters from neuro,gp,social worker and staff where I'm staying all been completed and now told appeal to late.
I was unable to contact dla this afternoon,so will have to wait till Monday.
Where do I go from here?

Hi.
Appeals are considered on a regular basis, so even if your paperwork arrived too late for a specific cut-off date there's no reason why it shouldn't roll forward to the next.
At worst you may have to resubmit it. There is no limit to the number of times you can appeal; just keep on persevering - you WILL get there eventually!
Merve.

Hi Kathy C.
No doubt you are correct in what you say about DLA, and work record. I have to admit, I know very little about how it all works. Benefit's have always been and always will be a mystery to me. I can only relate what happened and what was said to me, personally.
From what I understand, the government has DLA for the over 60s under review at the moment. So there is a possibility some could lose the benefit at some stage.
That is, unless any one here knows different.
No doubt we will know after the next election. They won't risk it before.

I heard somewhere that DLA for the over 60s was safe for those who already receive it, but that it may not be available for new claimants over 60.
Hi Del,
Have had a lot of bigger issues last few days,so haven't been on here much.I did find time to call DLA and ask why dab had called to say appeal was put in to late.I had found letter dated 18th jan with reasons about decision and received appeal form with it. I called dab made first appointment available which was 3 Feb,somehow it took 3 weeks to get from dab office to dla!!! Tried to explain but was told they will send form to me to fill in to give reason why it was late, arrrrrrrrrhhhhhh!!!!
Hope things ok with you,
Take Care Dot xx

A bit of a waste of space putting that whole form on here unnecessarily, don't you think? Most of us are perfectly capable of filling in a form and using a little common sense whilst doing so, and many will find the implication that they're not, rather insulting.
Surely it would have been easier to simply invite interested parties to PM you for a copy?

What a nice thoughtful post ...not !
ANY information is invaluable if only it gets to just one person, you yourself use this forum to post reams of information relating to DA's, do your comments above now mean that those interested in your facts only have to PM you for the information thus saving pages and pages of forum webspace?
After all, what is good for the Goose, is also good for the Gander
Its well known that "simple form filling" is a facet of PARKINSONS that for some is very difficult, not only that, but help with the form filling, and advice from staff at ones local CAB office can greatly increase ones chances of a genuine DLA claim.
Since the post you refer to was posted a good while ago I'm led to assume that your refeference to it at this late stage is designed to be mischevious ?

Hi ervyone, Ive been away from the forum for a while but was browsing today! Is it actually a fact that if you were getting DLA before you were 60, you will still get it? I was at a benefits training session just 2 weeks ago in connection with my volunteer job and the woman from DWP said that the changes coming in would affect everyone up to age 64 regardless of when you started to get DLA. I reach the grand ol' age of 60 next week, so Im keen to know.
I agree Kyloe, it was a completely unnecessary comment.
I am more than capable of filling out the forms and have done so, however I very much appreciated the time and trouble someone has gone to try to help me.
I in no way feel insulted, just thankful for the support of a fellow sufferer.
Thank you
