Dopamine Agonists and catastrophic Obsessive/Compulsive Disorders

"Well as conversations go, I have got to say that something very odd is afoot. The flow of the current conversation does not seem to ring true to me. I could go on, but as it is just a gut feeling, will leave it there.
Will observe closely,with interest"

Thank you for observations re my postings yesterday. You will have noted as you read them that I DID include an apology to Radz for my slow typing. As I thought I was having a "conversation" with only one other member it didn't occur to me to include you on that apology's circulation list. Silly me.

Now let me explain, my persistent and inveterate snooper. It may stun you to discover that many of the contributors to this august and learned forum are quite ill, with an ailment known as Parkinson's. This condition particularly affects movement, such that all contributors will no doubt be typing (and thinking!) at different speeds, and indeed most will also experience wide speed variations throughout the day and night.

Yesterday afternoon and evening were particularly bad for me, hence that apology. However Radz' case is particularly serious and action is needed urgently, so - knowing that my hands and fingers were getting worse, but that I had to impart a great deal of information in a short space of time, I set myself to solid typing, with tunnel vision.

You may be aware that PWP, especially men, find multi-tasking VERY difficult, so I donned my blinkers and ploughed on into my task. Every page or so I submitted my data to the forum in order that Radz didn't have to wait too long and to help avoid the worry of losing too much should something go wrong. I concluded pages with "tbc" to indicate that more was to come.

I knew that whilst I was doing this there may be other submissions coming in (from Radz or anyone), but I stayed on-task as best I could, and finally reached my goal. I was then able to scroll back and check on developments elsewhere whilst I'd been writing - responding where necessary. This disjointed approach would inevitably lead to apparently poor information flow, but there were only two people involved and both clearly understood the process.

I would be grateful if you could confirm that I have fully answered all of the points which appear to have caused you so much concern:-

1. Nothing "very odd" was afoot;
2. The unusual flow has now been explained to your satisfaction;
3. Everything now "rings true."
4. Your guts are now better.

Given that the mere existence of your comment rather suggests that you were under the impression that some kind of skulduggery or subterfuge was going on, I would be intrigued if you could provide us with a brief precis of what you thought was "going on".

Penultimately I'd like to know what makes you think it is YOUR role on this forum to delve into other people's (particularly my) conversation flow. Also to add to previous attempts at my character assassination by suggesting that something odd was afoot, something didn't ring true (to YOU) and that something was giving you a bad gut feeling, without a shred of evidence or any indication as to WHAT was causing you to be so suspicious. I suggest you should enquire about vacancies in the gutter press (with whom I've had several encounters), as you would seem to be a perfect fit.

And finally your obsession with me is now becoming so frequent and penetrating that several members have suggested to me (and not in a joking way) that it is now seriously indicative of OCD behaviour. Given that you yourself have already announced an awareness that the pull of your gambling is increasing, I strongly suggest that you are no longer one of the 76% of DA takers who are unaffected by their drugs' OCD side effects. You clearly now belong in the other camp with us; it's just a matter of time before you step into the quicksand.

Please take that not as a dig, but as genuine concern for your well-being by your numerous friends here.

Take care.

Ray.
Apologies, Titan, we seemed to have crossed in the post. Poor conversation flow I reckon!

Good afternoon on and all. Well at least after reading in I don't feel like I was considered a fraud, because believe me I may be many things but a fraud I am not.

I have had a terrible night and little sleep with talking to brother nearly ever bleeding half hour during the night and to tell the truth up to an hour ago. He is my brother and I love him dearly and want to help him but he just wont listen, he knows best, he will beat this without other folk meddeling into his affairs. My beautiful kind hearted SIL is distracted with him. Last night he told me she was going to see him, 20mins later he calls me saying "she has had a breakdown". Now I say "oh God no, where did it happen and is she alright?" He kept saying she has had a breakdown". Where I asked again and he said in the bloody head. All the while I was thinking that her car broken down.

I actually said to him I wouldn't be surprised if she did have a breakdown as he is always calling her saying all this is her fault.

He is going to our sisters for lunch and she said she would skpye me when he was there. I feel quilty not being nearer to him.

I wish this forum would let you see the other posts when typing a reply, I have forgotten the names of the members who talked....I remember Titan:wink:
and once again a big thanks to Ray and AnnaB

Radz

Good mornin' peeps hope you are all having as good a day as you can.

Up date on Bro......Crisis people supposed to behaving a meeting with him and younger sister this morning but he says he is not going to it, have been trying to get the hold of him on phone but he wont take my calls because now I am a back stabbing witch with a b . I let him read all that was written on the forum and he went daft. But I shall keep trying I wont give up and I will try to make sure that he will not either.

Radz
Well done. Every time Bro reacts in this way he's proving that what you're saying is spot-on. The old Bro would never have acted like that in a month of Sundays.

Obviously the kids are top priority (what ages, Radz?), then getting him off the DAs pronto. Can you restrict his access to funds in the meantime?

Ray.

p.s. How's SIL?
Hello again,

I will have to pop in and out today as I have my grandsons here today aged 2 and 2mths, 2 and 7mths, so I have alot on my hands today. I am awaiting the call to hospital for 2 hip replacements and by jove it is darn painful just trying to move and walk.....

To answer your Q....children of Bro are 13yrs and 15yrs girl being the youngest.

SIL according to stf nurse when I called asking after her this morning said she didn't have a good night at all, very restless. she is nearly demented.

I don't know if we have any cousins from across the pond on this forum....is so

Have a wonderful 4th July,

Radz
Woops, forgot the money question....they each have their own accounts so at least that's something as for quellinf his spends, Jees I wouldn't like to be the one who tried, he really would go nuts.

Ratz
Hello Radar, I haven't been on the forum for a couple of days, but I did reply to your first posting. I see things are coming to a head regarding your brother, I just wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts, I too am one that has been effected by OCD whilst taking DA's and I understand the difficulties that your family are facing. Good luck

Glenchass
Hi the all, just popping in to say hello...Glenchass of course I remember you, you were nice to me when I joined up I hope you are doing well today. I am having aa nightmare day with Bro he has retreated into outer space, no one has seen or heard from him today....Turns out the meeting he was supposed to be at today he didn't go, so the I think it is Gateway people are meeting with policeman friend and his wife tomorrow at three to talk to the children (it's them the children are staying with) I hate being so distant in miles away from it all but what can I do, I just try to do my best.

Right, that's it for now, I must go try to take the pins out of my back because I am certin Bro has one of those wee dolls, what are they called....oh aye, Voodoo dolls with my picture on it......Jees you have to laugh or you would cry wouldn't you.

All the best to you all you are keeping me sane.

Radz
Bro needs to be sectiond immediately because he is such a danger to everyone, including himself (and his money & assets). Whilst he's contained his drugs can be changed.

Might be worth discussing with the Help Line, they'll probably have contact info for all Neuros, PD Nurses and GPs in Bro's area.
Radz,

keep going. the children need you.
thinking of you.

mrs.t.
Welcome to lozdom, who, like Radar47, has a brother who is severely suffering OCDs as a result of being prescribed DA medication.

The brother is, as usual, devious, secretive and denies everything. He needs to change his drugs as soon as possible (IMHO).
Hi.

The number of new cases of PD patients being prescribed Dopamine Agonists without being consulted is increasing significantly. Consultants seem to be deciding by themselves what drug regime best suits an individual patient, and then just impose that regime on him/her. This despite their contracts obliging them to involve the patient in the decision making process. To achieve this the consultant is supposed to explain all the options, with pros and cons, full explanations, risks and side effects.

Nor are newbies being provided with real details of drug side effects (and especially how powerful and dangerous they can be), nor of the percentages of takers who are being affected by those effects.

The end result is a rising, not falling, number of newcomers to this forum who are right in the middle of major familial catastrophes, which have often already progressed through divorces and massive financial losses.

What are these consultant neurologists up to? I think they've all been told now about the DA/OCD problem, but I genuinely believe that unless they've actually witnessed it themselves, they - like the general public - just don't really believe it's true,

Ray.
Hi Ray,
Neurologists must have meetings and conferences from time to time , could not some of the "victims" of the catastrophic effects be invited as guests to such events.
Could make very powerful representation , en masse, so to speak ?
All the best
Lorna
Lorna that would be wonderful if it could happen, but I don't think my brother for one would not go because he will not fully admit he has a problem.

Mrs T thank you for your kind words, I will do my best for the children believe me I will.
