Dopamine Dysregulation Syndrome

was wondering if anyone has experience of this? I have looked it up and I don’t experience any of the extreme symptoms. However, my consultant seems to think that I am not suffering from ‘genuine’ “off” periods or indeed, ‘genuine’ “freezing” but rather, my random “off” and “on” periods are due to my body telling me I should be feeling “off” (whether I am or not) and thus making me act as though I am - convoluted, I know but I hope my exxplanation is comprehensible - and he has said it is Dopamine Dysregulation Syndrome. That’s it. No mention of any remedy or treatment. I find that if I talk to myself and use ‘mind over matter’, the symptoms can be lessened or completely overcome. As I type this, I see a post in “Wellbeing” in July 2023 entitled Dopamine Dysregulation ‘recovery brain-training’. Brain-training sounds to me along the lines of what I am doing on my own. I would certainly appreciate comments and advice.

Hi Motherofthree,
I must admit that your consultant seems to be simply guessing and giving very bad advice at that.
Who or what is your consultant and what is their knowledge of PD?
“but rather, my random “off” and “on” periods are due to my body telling me I should be feeling “off” (whether I am or not) and thus making me act as though I am - " makes no logical sense whatsoever.
They are basically saying you are not very bright and your symptoms are all symptoms you have " created” because you are feel you want to have PD and have Munchausen syndrome.
That seems ludicrous by reading what you have said.
Your talking to yourself is definitely not a bad thing, I do that fairly often and can only put it down to the fact that you and I feel like we need to have an intelligent conversation.
But joking aside, I really believe that you should go and see a PD neuro of someone who specializes in the facts.
