Double vision

Does anybody suffer double vision? Is it a Parkinson symptom?
Also one eye is bigger than the other, looks like the eye turns out

Hi, @Kittykatt. Thank you for sharing. Double vision and changes in eye appearance can sometimes be linked to Parkinson’s, but they can also have other causes, so it’s important to get it checked by a healthcare professional.

We have information about vision problems related to Parkinson’s which might be useful here.

If you’d like to talk things through in more detail, you can also call our helpline on 0808 800 0303 (9am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and 10am and 1pm on Saturdays). Our trained advisers and specialist nurses can give advice and support and help you decide the next steps.

You’re not alone with this! :blue_heart:

Parkinson’s UK Moderation Team

Hello Kittykat, my husband suffers from double vision.
He had an appointment with the eye clinic at hospital to get it checked out.
He was diagnosed in 2016. He did have problems with one eye when he was a child for which he had minor surgery to correct it (think it was similar to a squint).
The opthalmologist said she’d seen a few people with PD who had double vision but thought in his case it was more likely due to the eye condition he was born with, but could be exacerbated by the Parkinson’s.
He had various eye tests and they tried him with a prism on the lens of one of his glasses. This has helped with the double vision but he still experiences it occasionally, especially when he’s tired. He now has regular check ups.
Your optician would be able to help I’m sure. They can refer you to the eye clinic as it’s important to rule out other causes.
Hope this has been of some help. Best wishes, Jean.
