DVLA GP Medical

Hi, I posted several months ago about sending the PK1 to DVLA.
So the update is frustrating and I wonder if anyone else has experienced the same situation?
Waited a month to be informed that a questionnaire has been sent to my GP. GP duly sent questionnaire back filled in…Now another 3 months later I need to go to the same GP for a medical?:sob: I’m so confused, the GP already filled in the questionnaire, what else is there to do?

Hello Sue … I can understand that it must be frustrating for you. From the reply I’d imagine that your GP answered one of the questions negatively & the DVLA want
clarification.

Best of luck.

Hi Steve! Doesn’t sound overly optimistic, but I guess we shall see. I did wonder as I thought it made literally no sense.

That’s all I can think of Sue. At least it’s not a “no”.

Best wishes

Hi suegodley I filled my first DVLA form in many moons ago and they would not let me have a licence if you read the form it;s all moblity
and not all who have “Parkie” have this issues, so I sat down and wrote some of the other symptom’s. They gave me back my licence but they spoke to my PD nurse first. After that did not have any isuess. untill last year, a form from me filled in and sent off!! a month went by ! no licence, so I rang DVLA, Problem tele secretary of consultant ""Oh ! sorry your paper-work was at bottom of the pile so it did not get sent, Two weeks later consultant on holiday Two more weeks secretary on holiday!!! by this time it was 4-5 months gone, they say you can still drive under section?? but i would not like to think that I was the cause of an accident, so I just gave up. oh and looking at my age i thought ? after waiting for my licence it was better to give up/ also I had lost my driving confidence.

I’m sorry to hear that you had such a difficult time. I am now at nearly 5 months since I filled in the PK1, I used to look in the post everyday expecting a decision but have given up now. My GP surgery have now conpleted a “medical” whilst I sat there with zero input to GP reading out loud and answering questions meant for me without my input. I give up!

Well, just a quick update. I STILL haven’t heard back about my driving licence.

Sorry i have not back sooner but you know what it;s like when health gets worse. I have now given up driving. I applied for my licence my Dr whom i see at the hospital had gone on holiday and the secretary did not put it into the file that needed Dr signature. Then the secretary went oh her hols. When she came back she had forgotten about my licence so it was another month gone by. By this time I had not taken the car out because you never know what may happen. Then reaching the age of late 70s I called it a day. YES!!! i do miss the car but maybe as you get older you don’t was the hassel. What cam though my door the other day WHY!!! a new licence for the nex 2 years ???

suegodley in theory it should only take a month , so give them a phone call.
