Eye treatment

Hi All

Has anybody ever had any treatment for eye problems.  I have been referred to see a specialist about a Macular Hole in my left eye.   I believe the treatment is an operation under local anasthetic

I got cut off before I finished what I was saying. 

I have read that they will not do an eye operation under local for PD sufferers because of the possible shake so it is done under GA.  Has anybody had any thing similar done and any advice this is really worrying me.

HI WYE....SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS..eye roll......I HAVE THYROID EYE DISEASE WHICH APART FROM ANYTHING ELSE HAS AFFECTED MY RIGHT LID WHICH IS HEAVY AND LAGS. UNFORTUNALTLEY IT IS MY BETTER EYE OF THE TWO AS MY VISION IS VERY POOR IN THE LEFT. CONSEQUENTLY AT SOME POINT I WILL NEED TO HAVE THE LID  LIFTED SLIGHTLY...JUST TO HELP THE VISION AND MY CONSULTANT SAID THAT IT WILL BE DONE UNDER A LOCAL. THE REASON THIS HAS GONE ON FOR MANY YEARS AND IT HASN'T BEEN TREATED YET IS BECAUSE THE THYROID HORMONES THAT RUN BEHIND THE EYE COULD CAUSE IT TO RETRACT BY ITSELF WHICH WOULD CAUSE IT TO BECOME MORE DRY AND SORE. SO AT THE MOMENT IT IS A WAITING GAME BUT HE SAID AS SOON AS I CAN'T STAND IT ANY LONGER HE WILL GET ME ON THE WAITING LIST. AT THE MOMENT I HAVE TO LIFT THE LID MANUALLY TO BE ABLE TO READ AND ON A BRIGHT DAY IT CLOSES SO I DON'T SEE A LOT!!!!!!!!! (HAPPY DAYS AY)?

PERSONALLY I WOULD RATHER HAVE A LOCAL ....BUT BEST TO DISCUSS HOW YOU FEEL WITH YOUR CONSULTANT AND TELL HIM YOUR FEARS, HE SHOULD EXPLAIN ALL YOUR OPTIONS TO YOU.

Hi Dolly

Thanks for your reply you certainly put my mind at rest but of course I will  discuss with consultant.  I have not even got an appointment to see him yet.  So I am jumping the gun slightly, anything to do with eyes really scares me.

Thanks again, and I will certainly let you know what happens.

Keep rocking - I should take my own advice and just think of all the memories we have come up with over the last few weeks.
