So, I have my very first DBS appointment with a consultant I’ve not seen before.
What should I expect, how long will it last etc?
Would like to hear from people that have experience of this.
Cheers

Hey Dusty68 - hope you are well and good luck with your DBS appointment. We actually have a YouTube series you may find helpful called DBS & Me - check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKFjZWJUf6s&list=PL1ixQpbHed3bMtCnChYTByNobRJma2Sa2
Hi @Dusty68 Do you have any information about what this appointment involves or who it is with? I had three pre-op appointments. One was a cognitive assessment, which took a couple of hours and was quite demanding and tiring; the second was the levodopa challenge which required me to attend unmedicated and tested how effective levodopa was at relieving my symptoms. Once I had passed both of these I had an appointment with the surgeon to discuss the details of the operation.
I would agree with @Nickle that the DBS and Me videos are very informative. I watched them all before I had the op.
@Nickle @Singing_Gardener Thanks for your input guys. Sadly, the letter just tells me where to be at ‘date & time’, Assessment unit in the Neurology department.
TBH, I’ve been avoiding seeking info on this but I do need to face my fears; I will watch the video.
Cheers

@Nickle. Thanks for sharing this short video series. I finished watching last night. It’s very informative. There is more to this DBS than I realised
