People with Parkinson’s are being failed by a Blue Badge postcode lottery, with 1 in 6 councils in England not fulfilling their legal duty to ensure Blue Badge assessors are health professionals.
We’re asking you to join us to put a stop to this.
We want your local council to understand the importance of Blue Badges to people with Parkinson’s and what they can do to address the problem.
Jumping in on this older post because this topic is still super relevant. Has anyone tried reaching out to their local representatives or MPs? It’d be interesting to hear if there’s been any progress or feedback. Maybe a collective effort could amplify our concerns further and push for more consistent assessment guidelines nationwide.
Not for a blue badge application but i have written to my MP over an almost identical broken system for bus pass renewal in my local area, where I am required to prove via a £25 doctors letter each year that i still have parkinsons and that my condition has not improved, amongst several other failings in the process, the council not following DOT guidelines, and so on. I’m waiting to hear back from my MP at the moment.
Hello @treebeard123@mafikala maybe the councils don’t employ health care professionals as it will cost to much ! Sorry cost us more ! In council tax… Which I hope that all of you reading this have claimed for !
Bus pass.. only one year ours last 3 in Lincolnshire. = PIP !
But angin is £25 worth it ! .. How much do you use the bus. Is it a saving .. if you save money what Is a problem ! Try to claim via a benefit .
Blue badge , IF you had PIP and a mobility score of 12 .. no issues getting a parking badge .. Parkinson’s is an " on going" condition which will mean you get 10 years without a DHSS check up. , so no problems getting BB .
with out that you need to prove you can NOT walk more the 2 lampposts distances . Have a word with the consultant.
Obviously a BB is a nice thing to have , save a small fortune on parking.. BUT a warning. … as I have seen first hand , as I stopped a guy trying to smash my window.. he wanted the BB to sell on … So think where you park with one . It hassle trying to replace it …
