Hi. How long does it normally take to get the medication right? Been on Madopar 7 weeks but it is causing low Blood Pressure so I have been told to measure my BP for 5 days and send readings to my Parkinson’s nurse. I have started doing this and some of my readings are ridiculously low, especially on a morning whilst, by afternoon some readings are on the high side. It seems to be going on forever. I am so tired due to the low BP and insomnia and getting very depressed. I understand I might need medication to bring my BP back up again, but that comes with side effects and you cant lie down for 4 hours after taking it, but I need to have short sleeps during the day as I hardly sleep at night. There seems to be problems at every junction at the moment and I just dont know which way to turn. I also havevsevere arthritis in the left hip. Do the Parkinson’s nurses usually get this right eventually? Am I being impatient?
Good afternoon Rob28 … The first Parkinson’s drug I tried was Madopar, it did not work for me, I stopped taking it after only 7 days. Then came Ropinirole which I took for 10 days then stopped that. Then it was Sinemet, I started on 1 pill a day & slowly worked up to 6 pills a day. I have found it excellent. No side effects bar sleep issues.
If you are not getting on with Madopar then get it changed like I did. Tell your Parkinson’s Nurse what you want to do.
Best wishes

Thanks Steve. They will call me when they get my BP readings so I will add this suggestion to my email.
