Hallucination, paranoia problems with meds

Hi, my husband has advanced Parkinson’s, he was diagnosed 13 years ago.
Up until Dec.'19 he was doing well but his medication started to wear off and he was put on Stalevo. That was ok for about 2 weeks but then he developed hallucinations and paranoia which he had never suffered with before. After a very difficult time trying to contact his consultant and the fact that his Parkinsons Nurse had left he was then put on Entacapone, all ok again for 2 weeks and then the hallucinations, paranoia started again but much worse this time, it has been the most difficult time of our lives, and we cannot go on like this! We are waiting for a telephone consultation with his consultant, I do not want my husband to take any more of this medication. Has anyone else had problens with Stalevo and Entacapone?

Hello @GG20 and welcome to the forum community.

I am sure some of our friendly and helpful members will be along soon to offer support and share their experiences.

In the meantime you might like to have a look at our website which has information on hallucinations that you may find useful.

I do hope you manage to speak to your husband’s consultant soon. Although side effects like these can be extremely distressing it is very important never to stop or reduce medication without advice from a qualified medical professional.

In the meantime, if you would like to speak to somebody about this in more detail, I would like to suggest you contact our free confidential helpline: Our helpful advisers can provide information and support on all aspects of life with Parkinson’s and can also arrange to put you in contact with one of our Parkinson’s Specialist nurses. The helpline is available Mon-Fri 9am-7pm Sat 9am-2pm. You can ring us on 0808 800 0303 or email [email protected]

I do hope that the situation improves soon and please do feel free to continue to use the forum as a source of information and support

Take care
