No you do not get a copy of the report at the time of assessment but once your report has been sent to DWP you ring up dwp and ask for a copy of the report they will send you one
My assessment was the 6th March my reports were back at DWP on the 13th for the electronic copy and the hard copy was received on the 18th March , dwp wont make a decision till they have received both the electronic copy and the hard copy through the post
A decision was made on my claim on the 25th March which was just under 3 weeks from assessment , you are on the last stretch now Paul it wont be much longer
Glad to hear it went ok , it really is nothing to worry about is it ?
Please keep us posted and here's hoping you get a good outcome
Thanks for all your feedback and comparing notes realy helps providing atos are roughly the same as capita which I believed assessed you it should be about the same time frame for a decision.
However it does not distract that its like being on trial there should be a better system in place i favour they should trust your family Gp and neurologist but I suppose on careful examination theres been to many people over the years who have made false claims under the old DLA system and now the few suffer for the many and thats the wayit is I suppose rightly or wrongly
Well it is down to Atos now to get your report through there system and then on to dwp once it hits dwp then you are only looking at about 2 weeks for a dceision , did the assessor give you any ideas as to what he might say in the report ? mine gave a few inclinations of what he would be saying and when i received the copy of my report it did indeed state everything he said he was going to say only difference was the length of the award he was recommended a 3 year review but dwp have staed a 5 year review which is even better
Wont be long now if Atos drag there heels with your report go back to your mp to chase it up for you
It was not a doctor who seen me it was a nurse.she said she was a specialist nurse in this type of work. She said things like I am going to write this in your report and basically just typed away on her lap top. but she never asked the questions as laid out in that link you sent me parrot fasion they were all mixed up which disturbs me a little the mobility side of pip is extremely important and she did not seem to touch enough on that but she was very through on personal care side you know washing bathing going to the toilet and dressing. She probaly covered all bases but in her own way Shelly well I hope so or I will appeal.............Paul
My assessor was the same he asked all the questions but in his own particular order so i wouldnt worry to much about that what did she say with regards to the mobility ? how far are you able to walk if you do not mind me asking ?
I was the same i got all the necessary paperwork together got a copy of the report jusy=t in case i had to appeal but i didnt
Here I am up at silly oclock I thought I wold get up for an hour or two to see if I can then go back to sleep. They say that is better than just lying there must be the PD drugs that are waking me.
She did talk a lttle about mobility but she also stated she had sen me walking badly from the reception room to the interview room. I will ask for a copy of the report Shelly and if anything is inaccurate I will go through my MP.Probally the best course of action.I will kep you posted Shelly and thanks for all your feedback and advice being on this board proves none of us are alone................Paul
You are very welcome Paul, Give Atos about 2 weeeks from the date they did your assessment and give them a call to see whats going on you have to keep up the pressure on them , did she ask you how far you could walk without discomfort ? i had a home visit and the assessor did not ask me to walk as my physio gave me a resting splint which i had on when he came , i did offer to put on the splint i have for walking but he said it was not necessary , i was awarded 12 points for mobility
I will have to look in to this splint you describe I have not got one.I was having a holiday last year in my usual Lovely Weymouth and pain in the top of my left leg was stopping me walking and then I was shuffling this was pre diagnosis of PD so anything that helps walking would be most welcome I wonder also is there anything to stop the feeling of feeling like your walking with concrete in your boots...........Paul
I must admit with the splint on my walking has improved when i was walking without it i would tend to waddle from side to side as i was getting pain and discomfort across my hips and back when walking and that was partly to do with my foot dragging on the floor i was conscious of it dragging but could not stop it so the physio referred me to orthotics who gave me this splint and it helps with the foot drop even the physio was amazed at my appointment last week how much of a difference it had made walking was such a effort before i had the splint , talk to your physio about it she may be able to help
Thats interesting i drag my foot when i walk will ask my physio,hi paul i used to wear quite heavy boots, have changed to lighter foot wear feel alot better,is your splint got metal bits in it shelly ! have been looking at them on ebay
No Gus it is made of plastic , it has really helped me it pulls up your foot that you drag it is called a Dyna Ankle , the physio had to refer me to orthotics to get it
Thanks for all the advice much apreciated I have asked my doctor to refer me to the physiotherapist as stated in the letter from my Parkinsons nurse.
She also sates I am also to contact the information support worker for Parkinsons uk I was wondering how to do this and the reasons do we have to be registered.
I thought you had emigrated Gus you have been so quiet I hope the weather is ok in Weymouth as I know there was some flooding down there I will be down in September no fuss required just a red carpet and a brass band this year will do lol..................Paul
its sunshine for the last few days & more to come having a bit of pain at mo back injections not working so good and it flares up when even typeing ,you should be able to get number of pd nurse,no you dont have to be registered.but is a good thing to join puk only 4 pound a month you get all the news & magazines
Yes Gus they did recommend it for dragging my foot and i have to say there is a huge difference in my walking when i wear the splint it has helped me a lot, and my physio has just sent off the forms to give me a free gym membership and a swimming pass as she said the exercise will really help me
You are very welcome Paul good luck with your physio referral
Well I am on the last leg of this PIP claim now I rang the dwp to be told that that they had my report back from atos last friday so that would be 25/04/14. I mentioned that I had requested a copy of the report and she said noted. I asked about a decision and she said about 3 weeks from receiving the report back from atos so that would be over 6 weeks from assessment. and no guarantee that I will get the benefit. I have asked my MP to contact DWP and ask them basically why all this delay any way not long now hopefully thanks again for all your support.......................Paul
