My husband has PD and is suffering fro severe depression. We are getting amazing support from the Mentl Health team, but could anyone tell me how I can help him?
Hi @Glengairn,
A warm welcome to the forum.
I’m really sorry to hear that your husband has been suffering from severe depression. However, it’s good that he is receiving the help that he needs. In terms of how you can help, it’s important that you look after your own physical and mental health as much as they can. This will help you be of better support to your husband. It might benefit both you and your husband to join a local group with other people affected by Parkinson’s.we have local groups across the UK that offer friendship and support. You can find more info here - https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/information-and-support/local-groups.
There is also a peer support service if your husband like to talk on the phone with someone affected by Parkinson’s who has faced similar issues to him. There’s a lot of information on this here - https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/information-and-support/peer-support-service.
Lastly, we have a great team of highly trained advisers via our helpline that are here to answer any questions you have on depression. Feel free to give them a call on 0808 800 0303 from Monday-Friday: 9am-7pm, Saturday: 10am-2pm, or you can email [email protected].
I hope you find this information helpful and I’m sure you’ll receive some great support from the forum community soon.
Best wishes,

Thank you. We have joined the local support group already. I look forward to hearing from others on here who have the same problem.
