Help in 'Getting Back on Track'

Having not written in the Forum for some time I feel like it’s my first day at school!! Well here goes - It is now 12 years since I was officially diagnosed as having the ‘old Parky’. I have been very lucky in having the support of family and friends, the local Parkinson’s UK Branch and a very dedicated Parkinson’s Nurse and her team.
I accepted all that was ‘thrown’ at me and just got on with enjoying lots of activities, hobbies and life in general. That was until the last few weeks!! I am feeling real fed up, not depressed just fed up as all of a sudden I can’t do things I used to, even getting dressed seems like climbing a mountain. I am having difficulty in walking which I love. All of my symptons have come back with a vengeance. I just need someone to tell me this is normal and give me some hints on how to get my life ‘back on track’ please.

Hi, Normington. Welcome back to the Forum, and thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. It’s completely understandable to feel fed up when things seem to change suddenly, especially when you’ve been doing so well. It’s important to know that periods of change like this can happen, and while they can be challenging, you’re not alone in this. Many people living with Parkinson’s go through times when symptoms intensify.

Reaching out, like you have, is a great first step in finding the support you need. Have you had a chance to talk to your Parkinson’s nurse or team about these recent changes? They might have some ideas to help you with managing your symptoms, let you know if there are any treatments available, and generally support you through this rough patch. You can also visit our website for information and support.

You can also call our free, confidential helpline for support and advice: 0808 800 0303. Our trained experts and specialist nurses are on hand anytime between 9am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and 10am and 1pm on Saturdays.

In the meantime, be kind to yourself - sometimes, taking things one step at a time is all we can do :blue_heart:

Thank you for your response to my post. Your words ‘taking things one step at a time’ made me stop and think about things. I am going to put some time aside for myself and think things through more slowly and perhaps find a way through this blip. Also talk to my Parkinsons nurse who is always telling me she is only a call away at the end of the telephone. Thank you again.

Hi normington,
The natural things that may help are intermittent fasting, fasting and coconut oil in a hot drink like black coffee.
These are known ways of improving neurological conditions.

Best wishes
