Hi Dollymaz and all
Hope you had a good easter and didnot get too sunburned. Good wasnt it. I just love to see the old fellow and feel that lovely warmth on my back. I wonder if he will return again soon.
Loved to hear your tales too. They gave me a laugh. You sound a bit like me. Doesnt necessary mean to be funny or do daft things but it somehow just happens. I remember at my retirement somebody saying that and relating the tale of when a colleague walked, walked around a bit shaking her head and rubbing her fingers through her hair and said I went to the hairdressers yesterday. I was a bit dumfounded looked at the mess and blustered out, diplomatically, I thought - was it meant to look like that. Ah, well lost another friend.
I have been reading through your initial posting when you described your head as if it was in the ornamental snow storms. I too get sensations in my head especially when I am tired and have been doing a few things some of them as we do - at once. I get a cloudy muzzy sensation and I cant find the words I need or the wrong ones come out. Does it make sense to you.
And I dont know if it is the right thing to tell people about Mr P. I find some people are great and others subtly start to treating you differently. But there is probably is no right or wrong way and just go with what suits you and there may indeed be some trial and error.
Good to hear you are enjoying your dancing. Now there I am jealous of you. I know what I should do but the feet dont do as they should. The mind is willing but the co ordination is weak.
Keep dancing and enjoying the music and to anyone else out there - do what is right for you
best wishes
Astoriasis
Hi Astoriasis......Yes i get the same feeling in my head, it is like it is full! and i do have a job remembering names and words, sometimes its worse than others. Also i mentioned the "RUNS" !!to the neurologist last week and she reckons the meds don't cause it, but i have heard from someone on the forum who understood and said that every PD med she has tried has given her the loose 2's!!I haven't had any results from the stool test at the docs so does that mean all is ok or do i chase them up again? Still eating normally and not losing any weight! do you get side effects with your meds in that department?
Talking about people treating you differently....yes when i was first diagnosed i kept it to just telling my family, but some of our former dance club noticed the tremors etc and kept asking me if i was alright and how was i coping with my "CONDITION", i couldn't sit out a dance without comments from the odd few and it did cause me to upset them because i got fed up with one or two following me to the loo in case anything happened !! it got to the stage that we decided to leave, it was a shame because there were more lovely folk there but i couldn't handle the others any more.
Our line dance friends treat me no differently and it is fantastic, if i forget momentarily some steps i just laugh and say that it is the meds kicking in!! and they laugh with me. We had a 3 hour dance a couple of weeks ago and i kept going and it was amazing...then another evening i can be falling asleep on the settee, there is no hard and fast rules to this Parky business is there?
My Son lent me an old mobile of his as you know mine took a tumble down the toilet last week!! and since then has lost its sound!!!!! but i love my dinasour phone and nearly lobbed his across the room...i couldn't get the hang of it so ive put the sim card back in mine and just have it on vibrate.....and who knows if it has 9 lives like me then it may get its voice back again lol
You saying about your pal whos hair was a mess and took your comments the wrong way.....reminded me of the time 32 years ago 3 days after my Son was born and a woman came up to me and asked when my baby was due!!! i said "he is in the nursery" i was still so huge i guess it was an easy mistake to make. Mind you on the plus side ....i had a cleavage for the first time in my life.....brilliant, cos for once i didn't have to pencil one on!!!!
Have a great week......and keeeeeeeeeeeeeep smiling
warmest wishes Dolly
Hi Dollymaz
really enjoyed your post it made me giggle. Well how is the dancing Queen. I am still doing the art when the wobbles permit and at the moment am designing handbags which is fun. Did I tell you I put in an entry for the Mervyn Peake award. I thought that perhaps they could have all been shown before they were formulated into a calendar because that would be good for most of the people who enter because they will not be picked. One of the topics was very interesting it was called Control so it would have been good to see what came out of that. Yes we could have had a different picture each time we logged in to cheer ourselves up. And who knows there maybe a David Hockney or Rembrandt in our midst or just a shaky on a good day.
I have been married for 46 years. Yeh there is no way of getting rid of me - poor fellow. And it sounds as if you have a good relationship too.
Sorry I havent been onto post for awhile but have been to one of my favourite places around Snowdonia very beautiful but wet and the houses are grey which doesnt help on a wet day. But on a sunny day you are glad to be alive, lovely scenery, lots of countryside fresh air and the wine is not bad too.
Keep happy
Warm regards
Hi dollymaz and astoriasis and all
not been on here recently, 2 trips to our caravan. Fresh air and oxygen helps me walking.
interesting re the Mervyn peake awArd , I submitted a poem.
still do a swim walk once a week, and nhs physio starts 19 may for 10 weeks. Can't wait!
We have been married 39 years in October, I said to him parkinsons cripples you, not kill you!
Love dollys comments, we keep smiling too.
both at swimming and salvation army people are very good , help if really need it, not patronising.
dolly re runs that's why I've not tried meds yet, enough tummy problems already.
Keep happy and smile!

Hi Astoriasis and Brenda and all............So lovely to hear from you, and you both sound as though you are keeping busy and having fun. You are both very talented gals having submitted to the Mervyn Peake awards i think that is brilliant, well done.....still looking forward to seeing some of your drawings on your Avatar Astoriasis ?
Well yes there was plenty of Dancing to be had last week on hols....3 new line dances each morning and as the new chap wasn't too sure of some of the steps he asked me to show the class, thankfully i did know them else it would have been a bit embarrassing. There were tea dances every afternoon but as the weather was pretty good we took a trip to Pompey and up the Spinnaker tower one day and a Butterfly, Birds and beasts park which was fantastic, also they had a Nostalgia museum......i might as well have moved in !!! as i recognized most of the items on display and they actually had the hairdryer on a stand that i still use on some of my ladies!! i bought it second hand when i was 16 so definitely an antiquemore dancing in the evenings to a band and then followed by a disco...my pal and i were always last of the floor doing the Macarena and YMCA....and Superman.!! I know and yet when i am at home i can be asleep in the chair before the news!!
Snowdonia is such a beautiful region, i haven't been for many years but i do remember the wonderful scenery especially as you say Astoriasis when the sun is shining, it is a treat to see and feel the warmth. It is a real tonic.
I went back to see my GP re the loose 2's and he has fast tracked me to have a Clonoscopy this Wednesday 9.15to be honest i am absolutely P********* myself at the thought!! the doc couldn't get near me even with lashings of lube and a glove! i have never been known as a tight A**** until now that is! ii told them that there is no way i can insert a pessary beforehand so for the next 2 days i have put myself on liquids only and hope that helps!!! think he will have to knock me out else you will hear me from wherever you both are!! it is no flippin fun getting older, i have Mr Dolly who is having problems walking and his memory and co-ordination are getting worse....this is a bloke who has always been very agile and fit and it has hit him hard, so waiting now for a referral for him. We do laugh about it because as i am dragging him shuffling along the road i ask him who has the Parkys you or me!!???? what a pair he is still managing to dance a little but bless him has lost a bit of confidence and im scared that he is going to topple over. He is on a low dose A.Depressent now and he takes it when i take one of mine. We took them in a darkened ballroom the other evening and he said make sure you don't give me the wrong one.....i said well at least i won't be depressed and you won't shake!!
Will let you know how it goes with the old telescope (Jodrell bank) awwwwwwwwww hope not!!!
Keeeeeeeeeeeep smiling lovely ladies
Warmest wishes
Diarreah Dolly
Meant to mention Astoriasis about the Handbags you are designing, that sounds really interesting, how did you get started on that? and will you be having them made any time soon? wow you have some talents don't you? go gal
Brenda sorry i also forgot to wish you good luck with your course of physio i am sure that will help also the swimming is marvellous for keeping supple isn't it? and you are so right Parky doesn't kill you but it sure makes you stronger....don't you think?
Bestest wishes to you both
Dolly xx
Hi Dollymaz and the lovely ladies
Sorry to hear about your problem with number twos. You poor thing I bet you do not know what to do with yourself or where to sit. Hope it solves itself without too much intervention but you do have to go along with the doctors advice or think you do. I know I had problems and the specialist was asking me why I was attending after he had done several investigations on me. I was non plussed. Well I told him he had sent for me after the investigations and I was there for the results. He said he was only interested in symptoms all of which I had previously told him. By then I just wanted to go and said that I didnot have any symptoms. My faith and trust had gone. But I did visit the gp to ask him and he said to be perfectly honest I cannot make sense of them. So here I am the opposite of you number twos is like waiting for the bus that doesnt come without a rocket. What a hoot. It fills you with a lot of faith in the medical people..
Just come back from Snowdonia again but this time I could have come back by boat. I had never known it rain as hard and consistently. But did wonders for the complexion. Ha ha.
Good to hear of your submission of the poem Western. No good at poems myself but wish you the best of luck. Had a nice personnel letter from Parkies saying I had not got through to the second round and that they had had an excellent response. So I had a tantrum wiped away the tears but am looking forward to seeing the winners. And there is always next year.
Incidently I am looking for a poem for my daughters wedding but havent been able to find anything suitable. Have you any ideas please. Perhaps one of your own. Grateful for any help getting desparate.
Yes quite like making bags not terribly adventurous and give them to friends and relatives who seem to really like them. I think they like the fact that they have been made for them.
Sorry Mr Dolly is having a few problems too. Mine is like a spring chic, doesnt even get a cold but I do notice that we both have our moments with memory etc although he doesnt admit to it. We certainly give our kids things to giggle about.
Yes I'll have to give more thought to putting something on avatar.
Hoping all is well with one and all
Warm regards
Astoriasis
Hi dollymaz astoriasis and all
yes dolly parky makes you stronger I think too! Get strong or give in!
i also had the same letter re the Mervyn peake awards . I haven't written a wedding poem yet , see if I get inspiration!
Re husbands ,mine has arthritis but is fit otherwise, and bikes a lot. He is severely dyslexic, so lots of fun with him forgetting things ! Especially when helping me cook ! He never cooked before parky !
we hope to walk a bit at our caravan soon. Meeting a pen friend too.t
thanks dolly re physio wishes.
Best wishes to all

Astoriasis POem of mine if any good!
The wedding day has now arrived,
For. And. A lovely pair,
We're all invited , family, friends,
Their special day to share.
They take their vows , a solemn time,
And then the fun can start,
To celebrate a sharing life,
Long life, good health, kind hearts.
They'll both ,like us, have ups and downs,
Get through it both together,
After some years, they'll laugh at life,
And even stormy weather.
So join us all to wish them luck,
Enjoy the wedding day,
We'll wave them off , best wishes too,
Together they will stay.
Brenda
Hi Ezinda
hope you are ok. Have not heard from you for awhile. Tried to download my avatar but stumbled at the last hurdle. Had the picture showing it was ready for going and then pressed download but it did not appear on the site. Do not know why. Have not in the past tried to download much and each one seems different. Hope you can help please. Many thanks.
Astoriasis
Hi Brenda and Astoriasis......how are you both today? It is amazing the difference in the weather between here and Snowdonia isn't it? that is what makes it so atmospheric but i guess a little rain rather than a deluge would have been preferable especially for sight seeing, but you must have a fab complexion Astoriasis, good for the hair too!. When is your daughter getting married? have you got your outfit yet? you must be very excited? Love the poem that you have written Brenda, i would like to be able to write like that but i don't know quite where to start, though i do like to write (not books) my Mum often says i should put a story together about a cat as i am always talking about my old "TOM" and previous moggies that have passed on but i guess it is knowing again where to start and having the confidence to go for it. You are both so talented and making bags also Astoriasis, what materials do you use?
Brenda how are you getting on with your Physio? are they putting you through your paces and is it helping yet? The swimming must help a lot also. Are they giving you Hydrotherapy at the Hospital? My Colonoscopy didn't happen last week, though he did give me a good examination and to make sure he hasn't missed anything i have to go back this Friday afternoon for the works!!!!! meanwhile it is a light diet tomorrow and then take some jollop at 7pm Thursday and 7am Friday morning to clear the way! though as i spend so much time on the loo i rather think i may not need them but must do as im told ...for once!! The leaflet says that the urge to go will be VIOLENT!!!! and stay close to the loo. I have stairs so maybe i will borrow my old Mums commode and stick it in the hall .....just in case lol. The Joy of getting older ay?
Now last night as it was a warm summers evening we sat in the garden until late, surrounded by little lights, candles and burning joss sticks (very 60s) sipping hot chocolate and watching the wonderful Swifts that have just arrived. Life doesn't get much better than that....sometimes it is the simple things that give the most pleasure.
Lots of warm wishes to you both and anyone else on this thread.......keeeeeeeep smiling gals

Dear Dollymaz, Brenda and all
Many thanks for the posts. And loved the poems. No Dolly the outfit for the wedding has yet to be bought. I am off on a cruise shortly to Norway for awhile and so thought that I would leave it until I come back. Usually when I go on this type of holiday I cannot resist the gorgeous food they serve and really love it that someone else does the cooking. Great. Have been before to Norway and loved it. It is a beautiful country and the Norwegians are kind welcoming people the only fly in the ointment is that it is very expensive. So I just look at the trolls and jumpers and go on trips etc. But what I will be able to fit into when I come back mmm and what does one wear for a Goth wedding welllllll. Different.
Sorry not to have got back before now but I must be a jinx where computers are. Yesterday everything I wrote was coming out left to right and the cursor was all over the place and could not get the numbers to work. Only able to get 5 and 6. It also meant that I could not get access to the symbols. Fortunately the typing has returned but no such luck with the symbols and numbers. Help;;;;;;;;
Go to see the consultant in July. Havent seen her for twelve months and also see the research nurse of the trial that I am involved in. They follow up recently diagnosed Parkies for 3 years. Initially they take a comprehensive history, then they do the memory and understanding test, blood tests, then I dont know will see when I go. Last time they gave me a leaflet on giving brain samples and I asked if they did when you were dead or alive but the nurse didnt know and said only another nurse would ask that question; nobody else had. Perhaps I'll flumax her more by asking do they cremate you too as there was nothing in the brochure about that. It is part of a big trial in order to find out how things progress but you do not get any feed back which is a bit disappointing. But may prove to be very useful for all of us.
On a happier note. When we go to Norway it should be light for the twenty four hours. Wonder what that will be like will let you know.
Warm regards
astoriasis
.
Hello dolly astoriasis and all,
pleased you liked the poem. Yes dolly physio is great and I love the big exercise bike there ! We do a circuit, about 6 of us, Chat after over cup of tea, tips etc. had a swim walk today , helps a lot. Hydrotherapy funny enough made me worse. Too hot ?
good luck dolly with the colonoscopy, not pleasant.
Enjoy the cruise astoriasis, Norway sounds a lovely country, my cousin has been. I like cold countries, hate the heat ! It seems I am on the same 3 year research study as you. Took lots of blood last time! I enjoyed the memory tests ! Anything to help family in future not to get parkinsons. I said I will donate my brain after I die! They can apparently use it very usefully, the nurse said. No good to me then!
had a good caravan week, fresh air helps . Managed some hobble walks and steep climb from beach !
yes dolly we enjoy simple pleasures too , sunsets over sea etc. lots of rain here this week. Flash floods last week at home.
best wishes
brends
Hi Brenda....sorry its taken me awhile to reply. Hope all is good with you? it sounds as if you have been keeping very fit with swimming and physio and climbing up from the beach, it all helps though doesn't it? i used to like the Hydrotherapy but found the heat made me quiet tired but it did relax the muscles. So pleased you enjoyed your break away in your caravan, it is great to just take off especially when the weather is good as it has been here the last few days, though we do get a lot of wind!!!!!!! especially after the colonoscopy.....nightmare that was....at the last minute i managed to get talked out of sedation.....what was i thinking? she couldn't get the camera right round as i have so much scar tissue from a Hysterectomy that has caused thick looping near the hepatic flexure and so despite 50 mins of agony it couldn't be completed. She was pleased with what she saw and did take a few random biopsies and i am now awaiting results. The consultant will probably want to scan the last little bit i guess but not up the rear end again....no way!
I have been line dancing today was great to catch up with everyone and have a laugh.....like you when you go to physio,, the social side lifts the spirits as well. Tomorrow i have 3 clients in the morning and though i do very little nowadays it keeps my hand in. how i used to run a salon and stand all day i don't know.....it seems a long time ago now. I must say when i have mine cut i still enjoy the atmosphere of a salon and all the banter.
I attempted a poem this week !! lol.......my old Mum has bought our Son and girlfriend a garden seat for their new place and this Sunday we are putting on a ribbon for Mum to open it officially...yes i know....a bit potty but it has to be official and she will be the first to sit on it!!!I thought it might be nice to make up a little ditty! i think it will give them all a giggle anyway, it made me laugh when i wrote it !! i think that was the first and quite possibly the last ha ha!!
Will let you know how it all goes
Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep exercising matey
all bestest wishes
Dolly x
Hi dolly and all,
good luck with the poem dolly ! Sounds great re your mum and the seat !
very muggy here the last few days, bit fresher today, heat made me stiffer . But physio was great !
Pleased you are still, line dancing, all fun.
We had granddaughter Isobel age 3 for a morning, brother Zach coming sat morning., he is 5 . Keep us on the go!
pleased the colonoscopy is over. I have vit d blood test tomorrow, I have osteoporosis, they hope to give me an injection. Seems to go with parkinsons !
Good that you still do some hairdressing.
another caravan trip soon, meet hubby peters sister there.
yes I am keeping fit !
love brenda x x
Hi Brenda, and everyone........Hope all went well with your blood test for vit D. Ihave not heard of that before. A pal of mine has vit B12 jabs which help her very much. Have you been taking anything for the Osteoporosis? my Aunt has been on Alendronic acid tablets for years and it has helped her so much, they are on prescription.
Yes thank you the little ditty went down very well, it gave them a giggle and my Son appreciated the effort that had gone into it. It was such a lovely sunny day and Mum cut the ribbon on the seat and we toasted it with a drop of fizz. My Son made his first batch of scones ...mmmmm and he and his girlfriend laid out their first cream tea and little sandwiches....all lovely.
I bet it is lovely having your Grandchildren, and although they keep you on your toes and im sure you are tired when they go home, it is a lot of fun at that age isn't it? I have step Grandboys but they live over 200 miles away so we don't see them often and they have grown up so fast one is 15 and the other 19 and 6ft 4ins !!!! sleeps in a grow bag!!
Hope you have a great time in your caravan, where are you off to ? the forecast sounds good now so fingers crossed for lots more sunshine but not the humidity......it just makes me want to sleep!
Pleased all is going well with the Physio......keep up the good work matey
love Dolly x
Hi dolly and all,
like the parkinsons meds, the osteoporosis meds upset my stomach, hence the injection! Vit d is fine, so hope the injection stops any broken hips!
had a fall on the washing basket ! Not hurt, the basket was!
caravan is near Cromer on east coast ,nice fresh air! Static van.
Yes re grandchildren, , they are so funny and Isobel so smiley ! Yes pleased they go back to mummy and daddy, they do cheer us up. Mummy's b day yesterday, saw them all for tea and cake.
pleased the seat and ditty went well, cream tea too! Not that I could eat it, milk intolerant !
Physio is fun. Nice lot of people, tips too. You would laugh, too windy for hobble round block, so had half hour hobble up and down the garden ! Not a big garden , so funny!
I' ve never liked the heat, apparently pesky parkinsond makes it worse ! I got sunstroke at Bournemouth !
Mum is at our caravan, hope she gets good weather, she loves the heat!
we keep exercising, on my little bike now ! Proper exercise bike at physio.
hope you are well dolly and all
love brenda x
Hi Brenda and all........Sorry to hear about your fall into the washing basket...hope it had plenty in it to make the landing a bit softer.....it can happen so easily though can't it? I have just put up a rail in the shower it is brilliant...i got it from the mobility shop and it is a very strong suction with clips as well, nice to have it there for support just in caseI got one for my Mum, she has a walk in bath and i go over and assist her but this rail has made a big difference and she is almost 15 stone!! so they are pretty strong.
We were staying in Suffolk last year and popped into Cromer whilst on holiday, delicious crab sarnies which of course they are famous for. It is a lovely seaside town and plenty to see, and a great area to stay in your caravan i would think. I hope your Mum enjoyed herself and had good weather? like her i like the heat in fact the hotter the better, i am hopeless when it gets chilly or damp ugh!!
Pleased to hear that you are getting benefit from your Physio and the bike must help a lot as well, also the company really makes a difference doesn't it? you sort of encourage each other. I really enjoy the Line dancing every Thursday have been going for 5 years now and have had lots of new faces appear in that time....but i always welcome people as there is not much worse than arriving and being ignored. In fact we have a dance tonight but Mr Dolly hasn't been too good for a few months and his energy levels and balance have been a big worry also his memory. He attended a memory clinic last week referred by our GP and next is a brain scan! also he now has a referral to a Neurologist at last!! My nurses has been very helpful in helping me to chase things along so i am very grateful. He hasn'tbeen able to remeber dance steps for quite a while and if he tried anyway at the moment he would fall over.
We took our Son and his lady to the Cricket last week....Sussex v Middlesex...who i was hoping to win as i was born there, i even bet Mr Dolly a bag of chips on the way home but i lost! (praps just as well) i have no idea of the rules but it was like a festival atmosphere it was the T20 Blast and nothing like a Sunday afternoon on the village green!!! I saw one of the chaps change his "BOX" and polishing their Balls, so i was more than happy
Hope you keep well matey ...and be careful .make sure that basket keeps out of your way ok?
luv Dolly x
