Hi

Hello. I’ve been lurking for a while but officially got the t shirt today, to get diagnosed on April Fools day is me all over :joy:. Just wanted to say ‘Hi’ for now. 56, married, teenage daughter, shit job, positive outlook, better this diagnosis than limbo and if I have to have something then I can appreciate there are worse things to have than this. Enough said for now, hope this message finds you all well x

Hi MMM333,

Welcome to our forum community, and thank you for sharing your story with us. You’re sure to hear from the group soon, but in the meantime we just wanted to make sure you were aware of the two main tools we provide. First is the website, Parkinsons.org.uk, where you can keep up with research news, find fundraising events in your area, and easily search terms for answers to your questions. And if you’d like to speak with a friendly and highly knowledgable advisor, just reach us on 0808 800 0303. The call is free and confidential and the team has loads of ways to help make life easier.

We hope you’ll find these tools useful, and with our warmest welcome,

Morning MMM333 … Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride. I’m 71 and live alone, diagnosed after a positive datscan in June2023. Any questions do ask. If you drive you have to inform the DVLA that you are a member of our club.

Best wishes

Welcome to the forum,

There are many worse things, you are right. This forum and the Parkie uk site is a gold mine of useful information and advice for me - but everyone’s story is different and everyone has their way of managing things.

You sound upbeat for someone who was diagnosed only yesterday. I hope that continues. I think there are two ways to look at a long term neuro condition - you can be either sad and angry - or you can not.

Mostly, I’m not. But when I am I find help and comfort here.

All the best

Jon

Thank you, all the best to you too

Thank you, best wishes to you too

Hello again … Without doubt you win the “most upbeat” after diagnosis prize. The newly diagnosed posting here for the first time are usually in the “my life is over” category, which you clearly are not. Obviously nearly all of us have had this condition for years, just not realised it. As you say it is a relief knowing,

Well done.

Hello, I like your spirit. I’m 46, diagnosed at 39. Not great, but there are people much more younger than me. It’s not easy, but we need to stay positive! :slightly_smiling_face:
