We would both love to get away after a pretty awful 6 months, but with some care provided, as we receive at home, each morning and evening.
Ideally some activities that would suit us both, either individually or together, excursions to places of local interest, again with support if needed, and a lovely setting with hotel quality food.
OK, I am asking too much, BUT, has anyone any ideas? If not has PUK any suggestions. There must be establishments that cater for such needs.
Hi benji - I’m sure there is somewhere that does, but can’t think where, will look into it for you, there is something in the back of mind - but don’t hold me to it! fingers crossed!
We have a ‘Holidays and Travel’ section on our website that has a lot of information that looks into how to plan a holiday for people with Parkinson’s. I have also passed your query onto our Health and Social Care department for more information about specific care that can be provided whilst on holiday. I will keep you posted on their response.
Another organisation offering accessible holidays in the UK, and also abroad, is ‘Enable Holidays’. They have ‘Extra Care/ Assisted Living UK Holidays’ with an on-site 24-hour domiciliary care team. https://www.enableholidays.com/Extra-Care-Holidays
There’s also an organisation called ‘Disabled Holidays’, however, I’m not sure if they offer holidays with care included. Their holidays are accessible, they have mobility equipment hire, travel assistance, adapted transfers, travel insurance etc.
I was looking for something later in the year when, hopefully, OH is a little better mobility wise. I will bear the suggestions made in mind and thanks for your input.
