Hi everyone,
I’ve been reading through many of the posts here and just wanted to say how valuable this community is for carers, family members, and those living with Parkinson’s.
Caring for an elderly loved one with Parkinson’s can be emotionally and physically challenging, especially when balancing work, family life, and their daily needs. One thing that has really helped in our situation is having regular companionship support — someone who can spend time with them, help with light daily tasks, and most importantly reduce feelings of loneliness.
I also wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with short-term respite care or holiday support services? Sometimes family carers need a small break to rest or deal with urgent commitments, and I’d love to hear what options have worked well for others.
How do you all manage caregiver burnout and make sure your loved one still feels supported?
Looking forward to hearing your experiences.

Hi, @tauqirashraf, a very warm welcome to the community.
It’s lovely to have you here, and thank you for sharing your experience. Caring for someone with Parkinson’s can be incredibly rewarding, but also challenging, so it’s so important to look after yourself too.
It’s great to hear that companionship support has helped. Hopefully others here will share their experiences with respite care and ways they manage caregiver burnout too.

All the best

Thank you so much for the warm welcome
I really appreciate your kind words and support. I completely agree that caring for someone with Parkinson’s can be both meaningful and challenging, and looking after yourself as a carer is just as important.
It’s encouraging to be part of a community where people can share their experiences and support each other. I’m also looking forward to learning from others about how they manage respite care and caregiver wellbeing.
