My husband is recently diagnosed with PD although in hindsight has probably had symptoms for a couple of years. He has taken one week of Sinemet 62.5mg two times a day. He is one week into two weeks 62.5mg three times a day. He is then going to move onto 125mg three times a day. We have heard he should have seen some benefits by now. He has noticed no difference at all. Luckily no side effects to look on the bright side. Does anyone know how long the Sinemet takes to work?
Hi @Gertty,
Hope all is well.
Although Parkinson’s affects everyone differently, it is a little unusual that your husband’s medication hasn’t been effective as yet. I’d recommend that he consults with his doctor or Parkinson’s nurse about this as they may need to look into this and explore alternative options.
If you contact our helpline, one of our advisers can arrange for a Parkinson’s nurse to contact either you or you husband. Please give us a call on 0808 800 0303 or email them at [email protected].
Hope this information helps.
Best wishes,
Reah
Hi @Gertty
My husband is the same with this medication, he has been on them for over 6 months and no change, only the pregabalin has helped him. This has prevented his neurologist to give him a proper diagnosis. he has been provisionally diagnosed until he sees a movement specialist. Has your husband had a definite diagnosis?
Hope he finds something that works as it can be frustrating.
I’m wondering why the consultant hasn’t tried them on something else but they no best i suppose
