How to get Carers

Hi

Our mum is 86yrs old and had PD for about 5yrs.
She lives on her own and is very proud so not open to getting external help.
She is having falls every week now but managing to get herself up and not calling her alarm help.
We visit and try to help as we are her son and daughter.
We are now quite worried she will break her hip or something falling.
How do we find some private carers to come in and help with dressing & showering and possibly taking her out for a brief walk in the week?
Thanks

I had to organise a few hours a day for my mother when she developed dementia. I used a company with an office on our high street. It was quite expensive - over £1000/month.

There’s some info on AgeUK’s website -

Hi @Crouchwilson100,

I wanted to take a moment and welcome you to the community.

I’m very sorry to hear about your mum’s recent falls - I can certainly understand the concern here, and I’m glad you’ve reached out. We have a very friendly and supportive group here, not to mention knowledgeable, so I hope to see more of our members responding to you soon. Please do feel free to explore the forum and ask and participate as much as you’re comfortable.

Besides our wonderful community, I would recommend also reaching out to our helpline on 0808 800 0303. Our advisers will be able to provide you with some resources regarding carers for your mum, and can also offer other suggestions that might be helpful for her as well as yourself. They are there for you both!

Best wishes,
Joy
